Where's the Harmon Kardon?

I've noticed reading the 2011 BMW CPO ads for a 335i Convertible that many, while having Sirius don't have Harmon Kardon installed. Is there a reason like radio issues? Do the speakers take up too much room or some other reason?

Thanks

There is no reason that a car can't have both Sirius and Harmon Kardon. Mine has both. I am not sure I quite understand your question, but the HK is an upgraded sound system (speakers and amplifiers) and Sirius is satellite radio. Sirius is just another input to the sound system, like AM/FM, iPods or CD's.

There are three common systems world wide

Stereo which has no amp an no tweeters.

Hi Fi
10 or 8 speakers depending on year and a amp

L7
13 or 11 speakers bigger amp and digital signal processing.

The two US options where Hi Fi and L7 except for model year 2010 and some
early 2011 builds that got the Stereo system that was pretty bad.

The stereo system has been the no pay for it option for some time World Wide.
The reason is cost cutting.

As above, the convertible came standard with L7 for the first few years, then it became an option ($800 or $1000 or something like that), so a lot of people just didn't pay the extra for it - the car really needs the upgraded system especially top down!

Mine has both. We were able to transfer the Sirius subscription over to another car while the insurance co and BMW figure out if they are going to fix or total it.
