M20 Valve Cover Replacement First Time

I need to replace my valve cover gasket and I bought one on line. It has a silicone bead around the entire gasket except in front of the bolt holes. There is about a 1/2" skip at each hole. Do I need to use a sealant at these areas? Pelican parts didn't know. If so, what would you recommend? This is the first time I have had this off.

Thanks much.

also: rule of thumb, unless the shop manual tells you to use sealant, no sealant is needed. Gaskets tend to do their job pretty well

yes, I bought OEM. I can't find anything in the Bently manual about using sealant at those areas. Maybe the compression of the bolt is enough at those areas. Be nice to confirm.

That's for the reply.

no need, just put it on. torque it down pretty lightly, the bolts arent that strong, i think its 10Nm but i could be wrong, its not much anyways.
