Oil service notification

Good day people, I'm using a 2005 X3 3.0i, when I start the engine, it shows oil service - 3,200 miles on the dashboard, does anyone know what that means and its effect pls?

It is a reminder that you will have to change te engine oil in next XXX miles. When you do it, you can reset the counter (there is a DIY in the sticky).

Not to spur a lenghty debate, but there is a lot of consensus that the 15k mile service interval recommended by BMW that this service interval is referring to is probably about twice as look as is good for your car if you intend on keeping it for a while.

Oil service notification

I'm currently on 122,254 miles n it shows oil service - 3,200 miles, what should I do about this, do I need to service engine as soon as possible? I changed the oil a month ago.

If it's showing -3,200 miles, all you need to do is to reset the service interval indicator. Here is a video on how to do it.

When I picked up my '08 from San Francisco BMW it said -15000. Fortunately it was just someone not bothering to reset it rather than not changing the oil. I changed out perfectly good oil to make sure.
