Question 2013 535 engine proems

I've had my new 2013 535 with m sport package for two weeks 800 miles driven. Heard noise from engine and brought back to dealer to find what the noise was. They called the next day to say I need a new motor. Has anyone had similar problem and did u keep car or swap out for a new car if the dealer would do that. Brand new car blown engine.

Great story. Were you racing away from the cops?

Yes connecting rod. So now my maintance free BMW sits in parking lot waiting to be torn apart. I would like to swap out of this car and get another m sport still waiting for dealer response.

Sorry to hear about your situation. New engine in a two week old car? Hope you can get a full replacement car. Wonder what that cost is to replace the engine?

At two weeks old I would be asking for a new car. Question though (to help your cause)...did you order the car or buy it off a lot? If you bought it off a lot I would make a case that the car was obviously driven hard on a test drive before you bought it. I suppose you could make the same case if you ordered it and the dealer gave someone a test drive in it before you picked it up. A connecting rod failure is unbelievably rare unless a car has been driven the piss out of, usually above redline. And while cars have rev limiters, it could have been driven right at or just above redline with in manual mode.

Any updates on this?

Was a new engine installed?

And did you experience any subsequent issues related to engine replacement?

Pease advise.

Thanks.

I love the mechanical engineers here - like we know whether driving an engine hard during break in will throw a connecting rod, or just result in poor wear in of ring and valves leading to wear problems down the road. Maybe the connecting rod bearing was bad from the factory??

I'd see if BMW will take your car back - if not, will they give you a crate motor? I'm betting they are just going to fix it - unless they have a consumer relations moment, that is all they are required to do under the warranty contract.
