2008 E92 air conditioning compressor

At 43,000 miles the air conditioning compressor on my 2008 E92 apparently seized today and tore up itself, the tensioner, and the belt. My dealer has given me excellent service for years. They tell me it will cost $2500 replace it (the compressor alone costs $1400).

Has anyone else heard of premature AC compressor failures?
Anyone know of service bulletins or notifications regarding potential or actual failures?
Anyone know of lower cost replacement compressors?

I bet you could get a compressor online, or maybe try a NAPA store, the compressor would be made by someone other than BMW so you should be able to source it somewhere else and get an INdy shop to do the repair work, for what I read it appears the BMW techs dont do that better of a job

Would you rather not deal with sales trained rampalians? Start HERE

Yo! You done good, saving 64% on a part right off the bat - that's $900 smackeroos! Now, put the cost o'labor back in your pocket - DIY.

No kidding.. Thank god I contacted BMW NA. They covered $1500 out of the $2500. My car was a 09 328i with only 25k miles
