Thanks for sharing the very cool vid, ED looks like an amazing experience! A couple of things stopping me though:

It would be difficult waiting 6 weeks to get my car after getting used to it driving all over Germany.

My wife and I went to Europe (Barcelona and a Mediterranean cruise) for the first time in June for our 10 year anniversary, and the 15 hours of flight time from California were killer, even though we sprung for first class. Maybe if I was on the East Coast that would be a lot easier, lopping off the first 6 hour leg and layover. But the expense of first class tickets would negate any money I saved on buying the car in Europe. There is no way I could sit in cramped coach seats for that length of time.

Congratulation on your experience though, I'm sure you had an amazing time. And your car looks great, just like mine!

The experience of driving your own car in Germany and other places in Europe totally negates everything else. Cruising at 100mph on the autobahn and then getting up to 150, was just awesome and thrilling. Getting pictures taken of your car in front of castles and very old towns, just awesome. I didn't get a wink of sleep on either leg (first class both ways) and i even started passing a kidney stone on my last day in Germany (tons of pain and still had to sit on a plane for 10 hours the next day) I saved about 7% over the best price i would have gotten state side, so it paid for the plan tickets pretty much. So, if you think of it as a vacation and not just a trip to pick up your car, it actually does save you money.

I would do it all again in a heartbeat. It was an awesome experience.

Rich, that was very Cool! That looked like some Sphincter clinching, white knuckle driving. Also when you were accelerating was that full throttle, slammed to the ground?

oh no, not even close. The engine wasn't fully broken in yet, so i lightly accelerated trying not to get the RPM up too high. We never cruised at 150 for longer then a minute or so, i didnt want to screw up the motor/tranny.
