Which cable are you using? Are the #7 and #8 pins shorted or open? They need to be either open or shorted depending on the particular D-bus network installed in your car. I'm not sure off the top of my head which way it needs to be for your model year.

Also, make sure the cable is plugged into both the car and laptop BEFORE starting up the INPA software. You'll know everything is connecting correctly when both the "Battery" and "Ignition" say "on" at the top of the welcome screen.

You probably don't need to update the daten files, but if you do rest assured it's possible. You can find more info at www.bmwcoding.com

You'll get a focused response in the coding forum, or check a coding site....

As far as I understand it Inpa uses daten files.

As far as I understand it Inpa uses daten files.
Inpa makes calls to the daten folder for the files it needs
for various modules and there proper revision numbers if they are not
there if throws and error. The subject of updating and getting the latest
daten files is a constant topic on the coding boards.
With and 07 your files shouldn't have to be that new.

You don't have the right files in your Ediabas/ECU folder.

If this was an issues with PIN assignment, it would be a comm error. IFH-0009, connection to interface disturbed or whatever.

BTW datens are used for NCS Expert. I forget what the files for the ECU folder are called....indexes?
