E38 speedo drops out

Hi again thanks for the help last time.

Here is a problem that I can not find any solutions.

First a bit of history I purchased my 95 E38 740il a while ago, when we were driving it home the speedo and economy gauges dropped out with the ABS and the center yellow light that is shaped like triangle came on and the steering got heavy we pulled over to check steering fluid a was a bit low but not enough to worry about, it did this a few times with exactly the same symptoms. I changed the speedo cluster with a second hand unit as the pixels had gone, I thought that it might fix the problem it has not done it since. this was several months ago

Last night I was driving home and it did it again all the same symptoms. Has anybody had this problem before or were do I start to correct it I am thinking a wiring problem.

On the newer E38 models, the drivers rear wheel sensor affects the speedo when it's defective. It may or may not be the same on your car. I have a '96 that I hope to use as a test model soon.
