Question What do these alert / warning icons mean?

Hi,

When I collected my 328i 2007 from the used car dealership, I did not notice the two alerts / warnings. They are shown below, boxed in cyan and green respectively.

When I start the engine, the alert inside the cyan box shows up briefly before disappearing. The alert inside the green box shows up all the time, never goes away.

Do you guys know what they mean? Despite the alerts, the car drives fine.

Thank you!

RTFM. You have a light out. The triangle is a result of the light out (or is an alert that something else - less important - is wrong.)

+1 to floydarogers comment, plus an adder.

There have been a number of reports (my car included) of the "bulb out" light coming on even though all lights are lit. In these cases, high resistance in one of the rear sockets is causing the alert.

This link: http://www.endtuning.com/ccidcodes.html shows you how to get the CCID code that will tell you which bulb is complaining. May be a help.

Thanks guys, I've read the fine manual and also checked all exterior lights; all are working fine. Even the ones at the door handles, the car plates, indicators, etc...

I'll check the CCID status code later.

It's a little annoying to hear the "ding ding ding" alert once in a while that there is a problem with the lights.

There was a service bulletin release for this issue. A new part number for the bulb carrier has been released.

Sorry, could you please elaborate? Do you mean that I have to send my car to the BMW authorized dealership to fix the issue?

No. A service bulletin is a technical document released to dealers. It specifies known problems, symptoms, remedies, and any other information pertaining to the issue.

Service bulletins are not recalls. They are not covered unless you are under the factory warranty. CPO coverage is dependent on the issue. In this case, lighting is not covered under CPO.

Replace the bulb. If that doesn't work, you most likely need the new carrier.
