3G tires on e91

I’ve been reading a lot about the new 3rd generation RF tires being not has firm as previous ones and better overall. Would I benefit from these on my ’06 e91? Or is it a combination tire/suspension that supposedly has improved?

I notice a little difference but it could be all in my head as I've only been on them 4 days and the new car feeling is still different/fresh.
Went from a 2011 3-Series w/ 17" wheels 2nd Gen (I'm guessing) to a 2011 3-Series w/ M-Sport and 18" wheels w/ 3rd Gen and I think they feel slightly more compliant on bumps and rougher roads. The suspension is definitely stiffer, but for some reason feels like the tires are better and softer. It just may be marketings speak fresh in my head from the salesperson though.

3G tires on e91

I recently picked up a set of 17" rims/tires off a 2012 E92 to replace my original 16" set on my E90. I can't say if these are 3rd generation RFTs, but they certainly don't feel like an improvement to me... Especially compared to the 18" non-RFT setup on the wife's E92.

IMHO, run flats still have not improved enough.

I've been running a set of 205/55RF-16 Bridgestone Potenza RE960AS Pole Position RFT's since early this summer, which I believe IS a 3G RFT. They took the place of a set Continental ContiProContact RFTs. The 960AS is similar to the 970AS non-RFT.

The ride is definitely not as firm as the previous tires and the occasional pothole or deeply recessed manhole cover is not the bone-jarring experience it used to be. Still though they are still not as forgiving as a non-RFT. I'm not a tire expert, but I think a different sidewall construction accounts for the difference.
