According to top executives at BMW, by the end of the month, BMW's supply chain issues should be finally sorted out.

A change over to a new logistic management system at BMW's main distribution facility in Dingolfing, caused months of parts delays to dealers. These spare parts delays left customers with long waits for repairs to be completed. Some customers reported waiting almost 3 months for parts, to get their repair work done.

The delays have caused ripple effects globally because orders for Munich-based BMW’s 40 parts-distribution centers originate at the main facility in Dingolfing. Customers from Australia, South Africa, Belgium, Romania, Canada and the U.S. have e-mailed Bloomberg News citing waiting times of as long as three months for components to fix their vehicles.

"We regret this and will resolve the problem in September for sure,” Chief Executive Officer Norbert Reithofer said at a press briefing at the International Auto Show in Frankfurt. “By the end of September,” the spare parts supply will function again as usual, Peter Schwarzenbauer, head of after sales and parts, said in an interview at the show.

BMW parts delays

I've been waiting a month now for rear coil springs for my 325xi. Luckily, rather than send me home on broken springs, my dealer SA put me in a no-charge loaner (an F30 320i xDrive), thinking that it would be just a few days. So, I have been having an extended test drive!
