That is pretty much what the SA told me when I called the BMW dealer that sold/serviced the car. Given the options, it would have had almost as high an MSRP as a 550GT could get....and so it sat on the lot for over a year. Then one of the owners or higher up employees bought it. The SA wouldnt say for sure but she kept saying it looks like an inside sale....she was pretty adamant that she didnt see anything troubling in the computer but who knows....

If you are able to get a BMW backed CPO warranty that is "bumper to bumper" then rest assured that it is not a lemon law vehicle. BMW only offers power train warranty coverage on BMW's that have gone through the buy back program. It is possible that your GT has been in a major accident that has not been reported to car fax or auto check. Dealers are very savvy in regards to doing everything possible to keep a vehicles history hidden in situations where damage has occurred. It takes a great deal of time to repair vehicles that have been in major collisions. That could account for the low mileage if the GT was out of service for a year or so. You can pick up a paint meter, or ask if the dealerships body shop has one. Just go panel to panel and look for discrepancies in the meter reading. It is best to be as thorough as possible. I certainly hope that all is well, and that you are getting a smoking deal on a rocking machine!

So, this AM I called the original selling BMW dealer and BMW USA again...Nothing new but I pumped them for more info and feel pretty certain that is nothing in the history of the car that should give me pause.....but then by midday I broke down today and convinced the salesman at the nonBMW selling dealership to take the car to a BMW specialist for a pre-purchase inspection. I should have a report within the hour. The inspection is focusing on paint thickness, body panel alignment, frame marks, overspray, etc....anything suggesting past body/frame damage....fingers crossed...

as for the CPO program, I just dont think they are worth the extra $$. The dealers are looking for alot of $$ on these cars and the one I am getting is covered almost as long. My 2010 was not titled until July 2011 so I still have 2 more years or 45k miles.....Ill likely add the rt 66 warranty on later this year.

CLEAN BILL OF HEALTH!! Thanks to Strictly BMW in Bellevue for fitting the car in today and carefully going over it. Nothing noted cosmetically and they are confident that there are no signs of past body work/damage. Brakes and tires are basically as new.

The only issue with the car is a dying battery (that has spent most of its life discharging....) and that it needs a good wax. As soon as it makes the 3k mile trip home, first stop will be my detailer for a head to toe clay bar, polish and wax!

WOHOOO!!

So happy that she will be on a truck by middle of next week on its way here....

thanks a ton to everyone on this thread for your help, support and insight.

It looks like I found a legit 2010 that wasnt put into service until late 2011 and then saw a whopping 4,200 miles put on it over the past 2 yrs....

Congratulations!!! Glad you got all your questions answered and your mind is at rest. Looks like you got a great deal on a great vehicle. That is awesome!

Welcome to the club!

Considering coding the car to your preference. Look up coding in the F07 or F10 forum for more info.
In addition to coding, I did a simple mod and replaced all my interior bulbs with LED. May want to consider that although I've learned that some can take or leave it.

I think I got a good deal.

Pretty sure I will add the rt66 warranty and play it safe....
Now you can say you KNOW you got a good deal! Forgot to say the first time I read your statement I chuckled b/c all I could hear was Steve Martin's voice w/ his inspector closeau (sp?) accent saying that after the where he talks to someone selling a new phone service deal...

That is an excellent price! I still do not understand why so many people disregard this vehicle. 50% off MSRP with 4,000 miles? A BMW? Almost unheard of.
No brainer for me!
