Hello,
I have only 6NH option on my new BMW, without BT streaming, data and video over USB... Is it possible edit existing 6NH (E-Sys SALAPA-Elements), and change the H to a S to coding and replace option with 6NS ?

Thank you for your reply

That's how you do it.

HU NBT is your head unit and you need to also code the HU NBT module and not the underlying CAFD file.

Step 1. Change FA from 6NH to 6NS:

Step 2. VO Code Head Unit and standalone Combox (CMB_MEDIA) if present:
Connect => Read FA (VO) => Activate FA (VO) => Read SVT (VCM) => Right-Click on Head Unit ECU (e.g. HU_NBT, HU_CIC, HU_CHAMP, HU_ENTRY, HU_ENTRYNAV, etc.) (the ECU itself not the underlying CAFD) => Select CODE (Not Code FDL).

Repeat Step 2 above for and standalone Combox (CMB_MEDIA) if present.

* Note: 6NS is used for NBT Head Unit. For cars with 6NH and ENTRY or CHAMP2 Head Units, use 6NK, or 6NL if car is equipped with BMW Assist.

Hi guys

I'm just going to do this coding on my F15 (via ECU rather than SVT due to other well documented issues!) but i have run into another issue.....

When I look at the FA list I don't have option 6NH! I have 6NR (apps I think) but no other 6N option.

Should I just add 6NS?

I obviously have the standard Bluetooth and USB audio (which I think is 6NH) so don't understand why it isn't listed??

Could it cause any issues if I add 6NS? Or would it just not work and worse case I just delete and recode?

Thanks!!

Since 6NH is standard Equipment for ALL F15 builds, the 6NH Option Code does not appear in the VO. E-Sys and ISTA will know to encode it for 6NH based on the Chassis Code and Build Date. In contrast, cars where Basic Bluetooth isn't even standard equipment and the car comes equipped with 6NH, the Option Code will appear in the VO.

Yes, just add 6NS. You cant harm it, and you can easily remove it and return to factory coding.

I went through the steps and edited the VO by changing the 6NH in SALAPA elements to 6NS. ie I edited the H to be an S.

I then coded the ECU etc.

Now the office menu appears and it shows SMS messages but there is no option for showing Bluetooth streaming.

What else do I need to do? Pair the phone for Bluetooth again? Code something else? Add 6NS into the SALAPA elements along with 6NH?

#13 ·
No. Just 6NS, not both.

Did you VO Code Head Unit and Combox if you had one with 6NS in the VO?

Is A2DP enabled on the Phone under your Bluetooth connection options?

Under iDrive, is Audio checked under both the Phone Option and the Bluetooth Option?

Still no luck with the full enhanced Bluetooth.

Unpaired and repaired the phone and no difference.

Went to VO code CMB_Media but could see no such thing so did HU_NBT again.

Can see the office menus etc but when you configure the Bluetooth devices the only option is Telefon and not audio and data etc so no Bluetooth streaming etc.

Do I have to code anything in the HU_NBT to make it work. What am I missing?

Combox is built into NBT Head Unit, so you have no standalone CMB_MEDIA.

There is nothing more to do than VO Code NBT with EBT Option in VO.

Have you tried pairing a different phone to see if it works?

And you are 100% positive that:

1) The modified VO was written to the car.
2) You are VO coding the head unit and not FDL Coding it.

#21 ·
Yes I am sure VO was written to the car as I can now see the Office menu which was not there before.

I am positive I have been coding the head unit and not FDL coding it.

I am going to have one more try coding the head unit again but before doing it again I will unpair all devices first.

The latest update on my tale of woe.

I had the Office menu and messages working.

Deleted all devices and modified VO back to 6NH and coded the HU_NBT head unit.

Office did not appear in the menu.

Modified VO back to 6NS and coded the HU_NBT head unit.

Office appears in the menu however I cannot get messages to work. Now when I pair the iPhone 5s and click on the connection in the phone Bluetooth section the option to show notifications does not appear. When I click on the connection for my F07 it does. It is very frustrating as the messages were working before.

The Bluetooth audio did not work. However I went to the media menus and then options and it gave me the option to turn on Bluetooth audio. When I did this the Bluetooth audio worked well.

However still no messages. I have paired and deleted many times but no change. Any tips.

Hello,

i want to pick up this thread because my dad has in his F31 just 6NH and needs it changed to 6NS because in his configuration no voice dial works (just dialing with idrive) and with 6NS it should work (because in my F31 with 6NS it works, so i think this should be the reason/solution as i read here?!?)

Now i would need a little help what to do to get all things working

Update the FA list 6NH->6NS (Change in SALAPA 6NH to 6NS, correct?)
Then I think you Code HU_NBT .. et voila ! -> Here i don´t know what i should code to get voice commands working in his car...

Would be great if someone could help me here!!!

Thanks in advance

Scroll up to my Post # 7 Above for coding 6NS:

http://www.bimmerfest.com/forums/showpost.php?p=8020396&postcount=7

BUT, 6NS is for EBT (Enhanced Bluetooth), which has nothing to do with Voice commands. Voice command is factory option 620, and for NBT it requires a 9E (AppID 158) FSC Code be Imported and Activated in the Head Unit, and VO Coding for Option 610. If you also want Text-To-Speech, you would additionally need a 9F (AppID 159) FSC Code.

You can buy and Import and Activate the FSC Code and code the car. I don't know if that car has the microphone though if it does not have factory Voice Control.

#33 ·
yes microphone is in, because it has bluetooth speaking unit, but my dad can´t dial by voice and that a big problem for him.

can you tell me how/where to buy this FSC Code (because my BMW Dealer has no plan and told me it is not possible to get this function working)
I'm sorry, but what is Bluetooth Speaking Unit?

Hmmm,
I coded my VO and NBT HU for 6NS hoping to get the playlists and cover art displayed on the iDrive over bluetooth but no joy.
tried with 51.3 files.

I have F010-13-03-503 level currently, is this the issue? what version files 5x.x does this equate to?
Will I have to get the car to the stealer to update the car or can the car be updated by coding at home?

have f10 M5 June 2013 build.

#37 ·
F010-13-03-503 mean you 49.2 firmware on your NBT. You need >= 50.4 to get the new iDrive 4.2 features.

#39 ·
The car needs to be programmed by the dealer, or NBT unit can be flashed with E-Sys.
