Question New to site! help on questions with 335i

Hello, hoping to get some help and some answers. I have a 2009 335i and i have about 60K miles on it and the service check light turned on.. i don't have anymore maintenance or warranty on it.. so was curious what does the service check consist of and are there other places i can go to get it serviced for a decent price if i don't get it done at the bmw dealers. thanks

Did you get the manuals with it?

Did you get the manuals with it?
You need to scroll though the maintenance recall functions with the
BC stalk or in the I drive if you have one .
It could be something as simple as a air filter change, which you could do yourself.
Find a good independent BMW only shop in your area and you
can save quite a bit of money if you can't DIY.

Also you should google Mike Miller BMW for the old school maintenance schedule
to learn something about BMW maintenance and what you might need.

Link for downloading the manual in case you don't have one.

I like keeping a copy of the manual on the computer.

Ripon?

As in Californ-i-a?

Dunno about the Valley - you'll have to ask around about local service. However, icons and lights are explained:

For whatever reason, everyone here seems to be mistaking the 'Check Engine Light' and the 'Service Check Light' confused. If you are talking about the correct light, that light has NOTHING to do with the cars actual maintenance. That light will continually resurface every couple of months. It's so you keep going back to BMW for a $200 fee just to tell you that the air cabin filter needs to be replaced. As I see it you have 3 options...

Option 1: Do nothing.
That was my choice, when something is actually wrong, and out of my maintenance expertise, is when I will take it in and tell them to reset that.
Option 2: Have it coded.
I've read that a bunch of members had this check coded off their cars and they have never seen it again. Sounds very appealing to me
Option 3: take it in.
Not that I would suggest that unless, you feel as though something else is wrong with the car. Its just $200 down the drain.

Good luck and make the right decision,
E
