Jersseven, thanks I just went for a short local trip today, but wow. I had the kids and was in traffic, but the car was so jumpy I had to turn it off. If you are not careful, you feel like you are going to lunge into the car in front of you.

Frankly, I don't know if I even need this, except that the sharper throttle response feels great. Actually, maybe its the BMS with this I don't need .

But this is real, great tip. I would recommend for any car.

I felt the same way. Until you get used to it, it is down right scary! Just turn it down a bit. There are 21 different settings, so there should be a sweet spot there somewhere. Amazing though eh?

So far, 3 confirmed users and 3 recommendations. 100% so far!

Is it that easy to install? Or should I just bring it to my local dealership? Is there an OFF button on a controller?

You should be able to do yourself. It is literally only 1 harness clip. When you get it, you can plug the pedal box clips into themselves to see how it clips into the car accelerator. I just used some 90 degree alligator pliers to get it out gently. No need for a dealer.

The controller can be turned off if needed via its buttons.

Definitely do it yourself, Jersseven provided great step-by-step directions:

http://www.bimmerfest.com/forums/sho...9&postcount=29

The only remotely tricky part is disconnecting the cable to the gas pedal. You have to grab both sides of the connector, including the side that you cannot see, and squeeze and pull.

I would also have a torx set on hand to remove the lower dash panel under the steering wheel so you can hide the cable to the remote.

Good suggestion. May try that soon.

How is the pedalbox different from BMW's Sport mode?
In pedabox, when you click on sport+ does it suck in crazy amount of gas?

It increases the sensitivity of the accelerator pedal. I haven't noticed any dramatic difference in gas consumption. After you get used to it, you will automatically back off onthe pedal, but when needed the virtually instant power is there when hitting the pedal harder. I guess if your always hitting it hard, you will suck up gas quite a bit more.

Can't wait to try it. So is it way more sensitive than in BMW's Sport + mode?
How did you like the eco mode? What's you mpg or L/100?

Yes, way more sensitive depending on the setting. Eco is a little soft for me, I prefer normal sport mode on the pedal box. Currently I get about 16-18mpg which has not changed all that much with the pedalbox.

Just drove the car for the second time with PedalBox, set to Eco this time and it felt pretty good. Only a local trip to Portillo's with kids in car, but Eco surprised me with a hard step-off. A little throttle launches pretty hard, with no lag, felt extremely responsive. Power does drop off above 2500 RPM, but the responsive throttle is great for around town.

I wonder how Eco really works, what it does to the car to make it so initially responsive?

I can't wait to get it out on an open road or highway to see if throttle lag really is eliminated. This thing is a lot of fun.

It is fun eh? As long as you are over about 2500RPM as you noted, lag is virtually gone. Even if you are below that, you will still have much less lag, because as soon as you start to hit the 2000's the car starts to kick of like a rocket vs still having a bit of delay w/o the box!

I ordered mine last Friday and just received an email yesterday that it is going to ship Thursday. Was hoping to have it sooner, but oh well. I'll post a review once I have it installed.

Thanks for bringing the girls back Raj!

My PedalBox Review

Received my pedal box last Saturday. I have not installed it yet. Do you guys find a nice location to hide the controller? I have to hide it from my wife. Yet it should be easily accessible to play around with it.
My second question:
Do I need to uninstall it every time I take the car to the BMW service? same question is true for BMS S1 too.

You can hide it between the seat and the front console. If your just going on for simple routine maintenance just hid it under the mat or something and set it to off. They will never look if it is just routine maintenance stuff.
