Question Loud A/C Blower noise

I have a 2009 E92. Several weeks ago, I noticed that when I hit Max cool on a hot day, the blower noise is so loud and "growly" that it sounds almost like a gas-powered leaf blower. Once the interior cools down and the fan speed slows, the noise goes away. Is this normal or a sign of a blower motor problem? Thanks for any feedback!

If the noise on "Max" has an edge to it, an actual growl as you describe and not just a major increase in volume, then you have a problem. Since the blower wheel (it's like a hamster wheel) is in the air stream before any of the mechanical components it is possible for rodents to get in there and deposit nesting materials and food which upsets the balance. But they would have to get past the intake air filters which is unlikely if they are present and intact. If they are then your blower motor bearings may be failing which is going to require blower motor replacement. To determine if this is a job you can do, search 'blower replacement 2009 BMW 328i'.

well first are you speaking of the fan that is in the engine compartment? if that is the noise you are referring to that would be normal, if you are sitting still and the AC is on high, the radiator fan which also is the condensor fan for the AC will Run at max speed and is noisy

if you are talking about the fan motor that is in the interior of the car, that blows cold air or heated air, then you might have a problem
