Another Case of Runaway Exhilaration!

7:20 on a crisp clear September morning and I'm on a Northbound entry ramp for the Everett Turnpike. I've got the road to myself, the Leaf Peepers won't jam things up for another couple weeks. The Passport Escort is on, I've given DSC/DTC the day off.

I nail the throttle in third on the first part of the lazy S ramp and take half a step to the left. By the middle of the S I'm doing 80 and there's nothing but pavement well beyond my stopping distance. The right hand highway entrance part of the S is slightly diminishing and I ease off the throttle a bit. At the apex I'm back on the throttle and hold it there until the wailing cries out for fourth gear. A backward snap of my wrist and I'm going asfastasIcaretogoonapublicroadthankyouverymuch!

Just another case of runaway exhilaration! Be warned, the same could happen to you.

That's a great word picture!

Just to be clear .... are you saying you were "unable" or "unwilling" to put your right foot on the brake?

I've maxed out on I90 en route to Vermont, just for several seconds people, and in the absence of other cars. Suppose I suffer from the same disease as DSX.

A warning to all: these cars suffer from Intended Acceleration Syndrome (IAS), we should petition BMW to look into, right away.

Let's just say my foot was stuck on the exhilarator.

I had a fellow 335 driver appear behind me on a curvy road in the country and follow me for miles. Amazingly, he took every turn at high speeds, right after I did, like he had no control of his exhilaration either. It seemed contagious. At first I suspected a local contagion, specific to that area. I now suspect it affects those with the Bavaria helix in their DNA. Oddly, it's both a recessive, yet somehow dominant gene activated by exhaust fumes. I doubt those of Hybrid ethnicity are affected.

It's the age old question of nature vs. nurture. It is in our cars' nature to perform a certain way, but without the proper nurture they never will. I think that point bears on your recessive vs. dominant theory, and may explain the seeming contradiction.

Did you know that exhilaration morphs into relaxation hi?

Your driving euphoria calls for a tune...and what could be more appropriate than a Polish bagpipe player with a goat bag....

Perfect! You've brought a tear to my jaded eye. The real shocker here is that you beat Captainaudio and ///M-rated to the video.

Waaaaait a second. I hope that goat died of natural causes! And not unnnatural causes.

Kat! With all the kids in this forum now the symbolism would be quite inappropriate.

(Trying to paste youtube video of final scene from Hitchcock's North by Northwest with no luck.)

In the spirit of one-upsmanship I was tempted to post the chess scene from Mel Brooks' History of the World Part I. But better judgment and realizing there's zero symbolism to be implied made me refrain.

Instead [cough!] those curious can [cough! YouTube] investigate on their own. It's a, uh...different kind of exhilaration, French Revolution-style.

Back to cars?

Yup, it had the 's' at the end which leads me to believe some security encryption prevented the posting. Thanks for the tip, I gave up after 10 minutes of failure.
See, about the "I'm not a kid" thing. I know, so I don't have to worry about corrupting your mind, it's your blood pressure I'm concerned about.
