Dealer visit, not good

well go to the BMW dealer to have the ride inspected, and only inspected so I can renew my tags, so 1 hour later, even with an appointment and, hey dude your car is ready, so get to my can and what do I see.... a nice chip in the paint on the door, so march back in, tell my SA, we have a problem, show him the chip and he says well are you sure that wasnt already there and I say Hell-o no I just washed and waxed the car yesterday, and if you look close its fresh, so he says I will get the repair going, send you an email and get you a loaner car and we will fix it. There will be no 30 dollar dab of touch up paint on this repair.

thats the second one from the same place 1st one I let slide! not this time

so note to everyone that reads this, You better walk your car down everytime you drop it off to be worked on and you best point out any damage before you leave the dealers lot,

if you see a chip dont even touch it until the SA sees it with you

food for thought,
if they expect us to pay 150 bucks an hour I expect to get my car back with out extra dings and paint chips or scratches in the paint or grease marks on the seats,

Is there only one dealer in Charlotte? Anyone can make a mistake .... not a good response.

Move on.

Every new car or truck I get I use the thin Expel on the doors to protect them from others that might be careless. It has worked on all my BMWs and is extremely hard to even notice. I can (usually) control how I open my door but not those from say a parking lot attendent or dealership.
If the dealership treated my car like that I would and have driven to other dealership even though that was 60 miles away...

What is 'Expel'?

this worries me, i'm about to take my car to the dealership in next week or so and pay the $200 fee for inspection of the turbo's and wastegate to make sure they are still good before the warranty runs out at 82k miles. I just hit 80k

Remember reading about a dealership employee wrecking someone's M3 because they were joy riding. I went to a dealership and they washed my car wash even though it was washed and wax the day before (and I told them no) and they forget my valve stem caps. Luckily nothing major but it can happen. Inspect your car before you leave otherwise you're SOL.

well they chipped the paint like right in the middle of the door, not on the edge, its like a mechanic walked by the car, holding a tool and it hit the side of the car door, you could even see fingerprints around the chip like they felt the area. so they knew they did it, but were hoping I wouldnt notice it

While things like this shouldn't happen the reality is they do. Your advice to inspect your vehicle before and after is sound. With that said the dealer seems to have stepped up to the plate to correct the problem without any hassle.

My dealer does an inspection of the car and tires that you sign off on when you drop the car off. They do the same with the loaner car when you leave and bring it back.

Rather difficult to read your post without all the punctuation, but I think I made it through.

No excuse for the dealer to damage your car. If they are worthy they will fix it properly.

For the record, I noticed my dealer does an inspection on every car that enters. As soon as I hand over my keys, and before the car leaves the service garage, a kid runs around and marks down any scratches or blemishes. I thought it was funny last I was there because the kid couldn't find a one. He went over to the service adviser and asked what he should write down. I guess it's a rare to find a car with zero scratches. I hope I can keep it that way!!

There should be no excuse for the chip on your car, and I would just tear them up if they asked me $30 for the paint. It's their bloody fault, not yours !
As a matter of fact, they should fix the car, and give you a gift card for future purchases at their dealership for not taking the matter to BMW USA, because believe me your not the first !
BMW USA can fine them, if they receive enough complaints and they can come out and inspect the dealership and order them to fix anything, they don't like, out the dealerships pocket.

I trust nobody with my vehicle! I've had way too many issues after getting my ride back.....usually mechanical, but sometimes cosmetic as well. I absolutely HATE bringing any car to a the dealer or any type of shop.

Was I the only one who read the dealer said they'd fix it and is giving the OP a loaner car while they do so?

Same with my local BMW service department, full inspection with me present before they take my car away. I thought all dealerships ran the same process. If not, I would insist.
