Driving Impressions - Daily Driver 525i:

Ok,

So I've been driving this car for the past 3 days, roughly 110 miles a day and I have to say it has really impressed me. Aside from a lot of missing interior trim and the lack of a heater (due to the stolen pump assembly) the car runs great, has good power and seems to be getting really great mileage too. The 4L30E has to be one of the best, most crisp stock automatic transmissions that I have experienced in an older car.

Now just need to find all the missing parts....

I would say you should be able to do 3k, around me they are cheap, but I'm not sure on your area, and online listed so you get a better idea?

Glad to see you back around.

The E34 Is For Sale:

It's officially for sale...

Asking $2,500 OBO.

New front struts, new front rotors, pads, new radiator in the box, new BMW OEM battery, fresh trans service, K&N air filter new in the box, new intake air boot, new IAC hoses in the box, new NGK plugs (2500 miles ago) new push in covers for the plastic coil covers new in the box, spare silver label DME (currently running a red label DME) new tires, fresh paint, freshly painted style 7 mesh wheels with new emblems, new hood and trunk roundels, ice cold A/C, new belts, new fan clutch, rebuilt auxilliary cooling fan (works!) new grille, new trans mounts, new front exhaust support arm rubber mounts, new OEM 02 sensor, NO codes or check engine lights ever, no missing pixels on displays, OBC works, no missing pixels, 120,000 actual miles, original California car, perfect headliner, excellent tan leather seats, nice dash with no cracks...absolutely ZERO rust...

I drove this car every day for 8 months while my Mustang GT was in the paint shop. I don't have the room to keep it...

The downside....

Missing heater pump (stolen while parked at shop)

Missing front and rear window trim

No radio

Lower knee bolster missing driver's side

Passenger's side front door panel damaged from previous tech's repeated removal

Some sandblasting of headlights, windshield, grille and front bumper from living in Palm Springs, CA. Car was painted in factory oxford green with Glasurit 55 line BC/CC and there is a LOT of clear on the car, so you could easily color sand and buff out any of the light sand damage.

Currently registered in Iowa, because I was able to register there through family for only $15.00 a year. Car has no missing smog equipment and should pass smog with no issues.

Carfax shows the car was 'salvaged' in California in 2000. Previous owners (Palm Springs CA) advised they totaled the car from a sandblast damage claim, kept the money and fixed the car out of pocket. Not sure if the car will show up as salvaged when it comes back to California.

You should be able to email me through my profile of PM.

Thanks...

P.S. Look back through this thread for additional photos of the car, or search under my handle. Too many pics to send them to everyone who inquires...

The good Doktor's engine started and ran for 30 seconds WITHOUT coils plugged in, after cranking following a repair. There were gasoline fumes in the intake manifold. Still I've not heard this to ever happen. The compression is THAT tight. MPG figures are also outstanding...close to 30 hwy if I remember correctly. Mechanically, she's in fantastic shape, and buying her gets you on the Dok's good side. Many things have been repaired and replaced with oem (and frequently original) stuff. All the items that are missing are truly minor considering you can look forward to driving a 20 year old car with zero mechanical problems and new paint, for the next couple of years.

My suggestion is someone sends him a check, then buys all the missing items and has it shipped in beforehand, then brings a 6 pack and spends an afternoon of quality time with the dok installing everything that is missing and taking good shots of the car when winched up. Payment should be made to cover shop's friendly quote to repair front door panel.

$2500 for an extraordinary tech's (with encyclopedic knowledge to boot) restored E34 with a long fest thread stretching back more than a year documenting all the work done on it.....,which frankly, I would print and keep in a folder with the car's papers somewhere....is a gooood deal.
