"Service Engine Soon" came up

Randomly showed up today. Car seems to be running fine. Anyway to diagnose what's wrong without taking it in?

If it's the standard "Service" reminder, do the following.
  • With the car in Park and the ignition on (engine running or not), move the lever on the face of the turn signal until "Service Info" appears on the dash display.
  • Press the button on the end of the turn signal.
  • Move the lever on the face of the turn signal to move through the items that need service.
You can find the meaning of the icons which will show up in your manual.

If it's a true SES light, you'll need to pull the codes, with Cal's post below giving a link to one of the best ways to do so.

Mine came up while driving. I removed the gas cap, then put it back on. So far, the light hasn't come back on.
