Spilled gallon of milk in the trunk

I spilled a gallon of milk in my 11' 335 x drive coupe, and was wondering if anyone knows where I can get a new 'trunk well lid cover'

What I'm looking for is that big felt like pad/cover that has a handle on it and covers a well in the trunk. It folds in half and can be removed. I'm not sure if I'm using the correct name for this part, but couldn't find it online anywhere. It's on the interior of the trunk obviously, I can upload pictures if necessary.

Thanks for the help!

RealOEM doesn't show it? Dealer then. Sure, if you're in Minnesota might be a long drive, but a pic's worth a thousand words....they'll spec it via email.

If used part is okay, consider Lonestar Imports in Houston. I got a like new trunk panel for 4 dr sedan. It was the one that covers the drivers side internal trunk compartment for $40. Not sure if there are coupes there or not. They are a little high but have quality stuff. The gray material was a match to the rest of the trunk's gray carpet. That milk smell will be rotten soon.

Clean everything as thoroughly as you can. Once done you can try using an ozone generator to remove the smell.

Take it to your detailer/car wash. It can be shampooed/steam cleaned like floor mats. That'll help.

As already noted in here you should be concerned with the electronics beneath the trunk (our term) floor. It could end up being very costly as we've seen from posts in here.

I don't carry liquids in my current car trunk, but had one of these in my E90:

http://www.floormatsnmore.com/bmw/x3...FQHZQgodCWEA_A

An absorbant 'towel' at the bottom of the cargo liner offers additional protection from spilled liquids getting to the electronics beneath.

Enzymes are the best bet against the smell. Some of the enzymes designed for pet smells work quite well on milk products.

I just went through this a couple months ago, when my daughter spilled her milk in the back seat, and it soaked into the carpet lining under the seat. I park in a parking garage, so my attempts to get the smell out all left the carpet wet. I ended up with a combo of rotten milk, scented carpet cleaner crap, and mildew. In the end, I just cut out the infected area of carpet (only about 6 inches by 10 inches). Simple solution. After a few weeks, all of the above smells were gone. Whew!

And hire Jackie Chiles to represent you. He got Kramer free coffee for life after Kramer scalded himself trying to stuff a cup o joe down his pants. Just make sure you don't put the balm on before mediation. Balms are unpredictable.

I went to Petco and bought natures miracle, shampooed everything out, didn't help, bringing it to the detailer.

Trunk spillage

I am glad I could help. Realoem.com is honestly the most helpful site out there! You could just rent a rug doctor. The nice models of the cleaner have a hose attachment. I have used these to take out some pretty bad stains! It may be worth the $30 before you take it to the stealership

That stuff has to sit a while you know, its effects won't be immediate.

That's terrible. It sounds like the backing may have soaked up some of the milk, check all the little crevices under the cover for spillage if you haven't already. It's going to be "fun" getting the car cleaned up again, but luckily it can be cleaned! Worst case scenario you need a new trunk panel (LINK) and maybe something like Stripper Scent (LINK)

I'm surprised nobody mentioned about baking soda...

Spray the area with Nature's Miracle. Let it sit for 20 minutes. Then use paper towel to suck up the residue. After that, pour the entire area with a thick layer of baking soda. Let it be like that for a day or two, then repeat the whole process for two more times. That should take care of the odor.

Update

Detailer called me back today and said he cleaned it but can still smell the odor. He said he's going to try and hit it with a bomb tonight, which apparently can help neutralize odors.
