Torn between e90 m sport or f30 luxury line

The brake recall on the f30 really turns me off. I really like the looks of the f30 but a 2011 m sport seems like the safe option, even if it inst as fast.

What do you guys think?

If your turned off by recalls, a newer BMW isn't for you. Plain and simple. They are excellent cars, but troublesome at times.

I don't care about recalls, I just want to be safe. I Don't want to have to worry about my brakes ever failing on me.

The e90 m sport is great no doubt, but I just don't want to feel like I made a mistake in 4 or 5 years when it looks stale. Great tech in the f30 as well. Someone help me decide! AHHHH!

You can always sell. I went with an E90 to give BMW a few years to work out the F30 kinks...I'm always spooked by new model years. Assuming I don't become too attached to it, I figured Id sell my E90 in 3 years or so before upgrading to an F30.

But at the end of the day, I think its best to buy what you enjoy driving the most. When shelling out that much $$$, there is no reason to drive anything that might disappoint you.

At first I was going to go with the e90 m sport. I have been researching for months. Only in the last few weeks had I decided to look at f30s. I think I'm swinging back the other direction. The e90 still has great features and drives like a sports car, much more so then the f30. I guess I can get a CPO e90 and sell it down the road when I get tired of it.

Well If the recall has already been made, then the problem has been addressed and corrected. So as soon as you purchase it, I would immediately take it to BMW for the recalls. Problem solved! safe and sound in your brand new BMW

Which style you like better? I do not like the front end on the new "F". Therefore, I bought and "E". I also like the angel eyes instead of the flat horizontal daytime lights. To each its own. Get what you like.

they don't have a fix yet. They don't even know how to fix it. Plus all of the other problems with the f30 like the steering wheel vibration are making me think differently. I think the e90 has a classier more understated interior and exterior. And the halo lights are nice. =)

This is a much tougher decision than I thought. Then again, I'm coming from a 1994 Pontiac Bonneville so anything will seem like a huge upgrade.

Are there any major differences between the professional iDrive in the e90 and the iDrive in the tech package on the f30? Will the e90 still get updates from BMW in the future? Seems like the only thing I'd be missing in the e90 is the heads up display and the drive mode selection.

Sorry I'm not very well versed with the F30. I'm useless in this conversation.

I would vote for an E90 but admittedly biased. I had a year one car and really regretted it. A yr 1 VW is likely a whole lot worse than a yr 1 BMW though. You mentioned the F30 is faster than the E90 so I'm guessing you are discussing an E90 328. That N52 engine might actually be a blessing to consider. It isn't direct injected nor turbo charged. Both of those add up to no junk building up in the intake valve ports. Throw in the stiff steering vs buick steering (at least the F30 328 loaner i got) and it is a slam dunk for me. I know there are a couple people on here havng issues with the 328 motor. One could have happened to any motor (pin hole leak due to casting defect). The other guy had a valve drop on him and he was out of warranty. He is quite vocal about never getting another BMW.

My GF and i have toyed with getting her an E93 drop top. After reading everthing here, no doubt it would have the naturally aspirated/port injected N52 328 engine. Best of luck. She drives so slow that it wouldn't be worth the headaches of turbo rattles, walnut blasting the intake ports, etc.

M Sport vs Luxury Line? Why not M Sport vs M Sport?

I think you're listening to too much of the BS over on the F30 forum. As was mentioned, the brake issue will be addressed, and address very quickly. Have you driven both cars? I say drive them both and buy the one you like best.

Because an msport f30 is a little out of my budget. I test drove an M Sport e90 a couple of months ago and I instantly fell in love with the car. I like the super heavy steering and feeling all the bumps in the road. I haven't driven an f30 yet. Plus I think I like the looks of the m sport on the e90 better. It just looks more classy to me.

You haven't driven the F30? I'm amazed at all the people who talk about steering, suspension, etc., issues that haven't even driven one. That said, the E90 is a nice car. If you like if and, and have a limited budget, that may be the car for you.

If it helps at all I was deciding between purchasing a CPO E90 (328i xdrive) and leasing a new F30. I drove both and actually had the F30 over the weekend.

It was immediately obvious to me that the steering, handling and engine in the E90 was what I was after. Driving the F30 to me was like driving any other nice soft handling car - it lacked that sports car feeling that the E90 has.

But I agree, drive both and decide. After driving both you will know.

The steering wheel vibration issue was solved a while ago. They obviously do know how to fix the brake booster as the new shipments are coming in either with new parts or are being retrofitted at the ports.

As much as I dislike F30 in the service loaner guise (X drive + AT - DHP - 704), I would go with brand new car.

Brakes problem? Seem to be only with N20/N26. Buy no line 335i. How? Contact board sponsors and ask for ED+PCD quote on a 335i no line with options you want. This will get you to the less than 328i Modern price. You must add to that round-trip ticket to Munich. I believe you will still get ahead if you fly in, sign off, fly out.

What am I talking about? Start here:

drove a co workers f30 modern line today. Not impressed, kind of a letdown. I really like the meaty steering wheel in the e90 and the idrive screen in the f30 is really hard to see when its sunny out.

*sigh* I like the e90 better but the warranty would only have about 2 and a half years left. I can handle repairs unless the evaporator goes out. Then i'm screwed.

You are approaching this topic with entirely too much reason.
