Finally, officially - I'm a new ZHP club member!

Well, after only 6 weeks of waiting from the day I ordered the car I took delivery. This was only the 2nd bimmer I've had to wait on the factory to build, but it was definitely the shortest wait. Now for the details...

It's a 2005 330i ZHP in Mystic Blue with Natural Brown leather, CWP, Bi-Xenons, and electric rear sunshade. It was built week 34 in Munich so it is probably one of the earliest 2005's. I bought it from Ed Besl at The BMW Store in Cincinnati and he made the whole process so easy and I think I got a fantastic deal on the car . We bought my wife's X5 from him 3 years ago and had the same experience then. We will definitely go see Ed again for our next BMW.

I was a little sad to part with my '00 528i Sport/Premium/5sp Manual because it was such a great car. Not the quickest or fastest E39, but a great car nonetheless. But I do love the look and feel of the new ZHP. All I could say when I first saw it in the showroom yesterday morning was "WOW - that looks awesome!" It is the only Mystic Blue ZHP and the only Mystic/NB combination 3 series I've ever seen so for now it's pretty unique in my area. The more I look at it, the more I love the NBL with the blue exterior. Below are some pics from yesterday.

Now if I can just get through the break-in period without going over 4k rpms....

Welcome aboard!!!! That is a beautiful color combination.

Just remember to quit drooling when you get into the car, you will ruin your beautiful leather upholstery. j/k

Welcome to the ZHP group, all i can say is awesome car especially with that color/interior combo. I think you'll be the only one in your city with that combo no doubt.
These 330zhps car are so awesome, sometimes you'll ask yourself is this really a 330? Enjoy!

Oh by the way i hope its a 6 spd manual!

Welcome to the club! Awsome color combination. I'm sure you'll love the car, even if the break-in period does suck. To help speed up the break-in, I'd recommend a couple weekends worth of back road road trips. Just tell all of your friends and relatives that you have to [insert excuse here] and you will catch up with them next month.

Thanks for the compliments. I know many people like the Imola and SG exteriors...which I really like too. I just decided to get a blue this time since I've had 4 silver cars and 2 red cars. Black was never an option...just too hot here in the summer and too hard to keep clean. Not that Mystic will be that easy.

Just finished my first mod...added the UGDO from my old car. Good thing I searched the archives about the connectors before doing something stupid (it's the white plug, not the black one). Now I can open both garage doors with the push of a button using my band-aided fingers. Word to the wise... be careful of the sharp edges when searching for the right connector wires.

No slushboxes for me. I had the 528iA for 18 months so that my wife could drive my car (she can't drive a manual). She never did so I traded it for the 528i sport 5MT (which she never tried to learn to drive) and now this ZHP is 6spd so she probably won't ever drive it .

Very nice.

Haven't been to a BMW dealer in awhile and really oughta go look at Mystic Blue in person cause it varies so much in photos.

Great looking car! I still remember thinking "wow" when seeing my car for the first time when it arrived at the dealer. You're really going to enjoy this car; it only gets better as you rack up the miles.

May be it's just me. But I would never buy a last model year car before a redesign. Cause I know I would be kicking myself when the new mode is out. Should have waited for the E90

Don't be a hater. I just bought a last model year car too. There are advantages to buying a last model year car such as better reliability then first model year cars. Maybe some people don't like the new style of the E90 or like me bought a ZHP for a great price.
Highly unlikely you will be able to score the same deals when the new E90 does hit the streets.

Total false, first the last year of a model is usually the best cause all the glitches and bugs have been fixed. Second like me i think the E46 has been the best 3er yet especially in ZHP trim. The new E90 looks good but til i see it in person i'm not too thrilled about it. Also if you havent notice these new bimmers are starting to slowy edge away from being a drivers car first and than a luxury car, all these new gadgets like active steering and SMG crap i'm not interested in. Gimme a real bimmer no hi tech steering or tranny i know sooner or later i'm gonna have to converted but not now. And third with the new E90 on the way you can get E46s at a very special price, for example i got my 330 for $5k less than sticker which was too good to pass up. If the E90 happens to be some serious performer i wouldn't doubt about a trade but the way the spy pics are looking i'll buy a new 5 before the E90.

Mystic Blue varies almost as much in person. Different lighting and changes in the angle the light hits the car gives a pretty wide variance in color. Personally, I think it looks a little dull under an overcast sky, but I love it in bright sunlight or at night under the street lights.

Actually I bought the E46 AFTER seeing pictures of the E90. I remember seeing spy pics of the E65 (current 7) and the E60 (current 5) and thinking how disappointed I was in the pictures and not much changed after seeing them in person. Not to mention they haven't grown on me like Chris Bangle says they will. I like the E90 pics more than the early pics of the current 5er or 7er, but based on my experience with those two, I don't expect to like the E90 enough in person to wish I had waited instead of buying the ZHP. Time will tell, but for now I'm extremely satisfied with this car.

The problem with last model year is that your car will be "new" for less than a year. After the new one is out you have an old style car. The other bad thing is that you take a huge hit on resale value because you will be trying to sell a old model. But in the end what matter is that you are happy with your purchase

Chill out man, no one is hating. It's just another opinion. After all it would be just too boring if we all agree on everything.

The deal on a last year model is decieving. You will loose all the money you saved when it's time to trade in. It's kind of a seame idea as getting a deal on a left over last year model when the new model comes out. As soon as you buy it you get a huge depreciation hit because your car is a year old as soon as you drive off the lot. So mouch for a good deal...

So, I don't plan on ever selling my car... but why are people so hung up about end-of-model-year depreciation??

Are you selling the car in three months? By the time you sell it, how big is the difference between a January car versus a September car, and then compare it to the several thousand you saved from marketing support and other deals?

This should only concern you if you are selling your car with the next 2 years.

I bought my car the 3rd week of September of 1997 during an end of model year clearance sale. In January I sold my 97 318ti (E36/5) for 44% of the actual 1997 purchase price (excluding sales tax but including the cost of all accessories listed in sig).

I could care less about depreciation because I'm holding onto my car for 5+ years. As long as it's not a lemon of course. Depreciation means nothing to me.
