Dinan exhaust

Anyone else score a Dinan exhaust for their BMW last month at the 20% discount?

Got mine and love the tone of this thing, to the point where I have been leaving my radio off most of the time over the last 3 week just to hear the growl while going through the gears.

DIY, easy install, great step by step instructions, less than 2 hrs in total with a super cautious measure twice cut once procedure. Highly recommended to anyone looking to improve the sound of their exhaust with an emphasis on no drone and an improved lower tone. Sound pressure levels live a tad below the BMW PE and lower in pitch, which I preferred.

Last comment...black tips rule!

Get the BMW PE. Still costs less than the Dinan on sell. And by that I mean you can find the BMW PE on ebay and other places for much less than the MSRP list price. When I was shopping the Dinan and BMW PE, the performance SA said he thought the BMW PE sounded better than Dinan. I realize that is a subjective evaluation and YMMV. There is no drone, which was an absolute must for me. The last aftermarket exhaust (Stillen) I bought for a G35 drove me to sell it there was so much drone.

I did and actually had it on a loaner for 2 days while my car was in for injector service recently.

I was lucky enough to hear the IS, the PE and the FFE all before making my decision. All were worthy of audition and sounded good to me but it was the tone of the FFE that most attracted me, it got to as close to a V8 sound as I've heard. My point of reference you might ask () every morning I get a taste of what a V8 sounds like, as my neighbor starts up his 5.0. Was my FFE as loud, no, but its tone is similar enough and very satisfying if you are interested in this type of sound which I was. {What can I say my first motor was a 350 LT1 in the car of my youth, a great and never forgot Z28. }

The PE was also louder but had a hint of thinness(rasp maybe)that drove me a bit crazy hi up in the rev band, the black tip was nice on start up but quickly left me wanting after warm up was over. The FFE is not loud by any means so for anyone looking for LOUD, go elsewhere.

Let me make clear, things like this are very subjective and may I add hearing capabilities also probably have an impact, so anyone reading this should do as I did and audition if you can before you buy. And by the way, YouTube audio is good but doesn't do any of these 3 above mentioned justice, so again try to hear live before you buy!

Hey Lark, I liked the PE but found it a little too high strung hi up in the rev range, some might like that, but it wasn't for me. As you said, it's subjective and YMMV and one should try to audition before one commits to either.

When I was searching online, Tischer seemed to offer the best pricing on the PE, FWIW.
