Weird that it happens at the same time for all of us!

Just happened to me this mornign as well. Received the error for brake light being out, then reverse light being out, then turn signal light being out. Passenger rear side. All lights are out.

I think I did receive the recall notice so, I'll double check on that and bring it in. Good thing I checked here first.. I thought it was just the bulbs.

I thought it was bulbs too ... when I changed them (all) it worked for a while, and then started giving messages again. Apparently changing the bulbs moved the wire around enough to make contact. After a closer inspection I found the problem. Indeed it is an easy fix, and not really a "hack" because it's the same thing that the dealer does.

E60 left rear taillight malfunction

Just received my recall letter from BMW NA ....I'm finally on the list! Those of you who are not yet, just Keep calling and keep "fighting" . BMW is trying to stall it out because this is costly to them. They also claim to lack necessary parts to accommodate every customer.

Nope, the ground wire problem will affect all rear lights not just one.

Not necessarily so ... there's a (brown) ground wire on each side. But other than that, Ryan might have some other problem, because he says all the lights work ... and in my case the right taillights were malfunctioning along with the error codes, but the left ones worked okay.

I assumed all other lights on the right is working, then it's not the ground wire cause the brown gnd wire is common to all 3 (rear, signal and brake) on that same side.

Maybe when he said "all" he meant the left and front are OK

E60 left rear taillight malfunction

I received my recall letter which states that the parts are in to replace those taillight assemblies. I made my appointment. I already paid $320 for one a while back. The dealer will submit reimbursement to BMW... Hope they don't take long. I'll keep y'all posted....I'm in the greater Baltimore area in Maryland.

You might want to check the wiring to make sure all connections are solid and inspect for any melted or burned wiring which appear to be the subject of the recall.

Just this morning I pulled the assembly on my 06 530xi and found the connection was loose even though all the lamps were lit. After reconnecting the harness the malfunction indication was off. It took about 10 mins and you need a coin to remove the panel.
