computer software version

Is there a way to tell what the current software version on the computer is so that after I have my x3 serviced I can see if the software was updated?

What the OP is referring to is the vehicle software for the various modules. The collective version of that is called the I-step in BMW-speak. There is no way for the end user to see this unless you have some software to plug into your vehicle's diagnostic port.

The software version in the i-drive is only the small bit of software that has to do with interfacing with phone or media.

I thought that might be it, too, but I figured I'd offer what I could.

I don't have any of the coding widgets and bits.

Thanks for the feedback. I figured with everything this I drive system does, it would be nice to see what software version it had without bringing it to the dealer. Not used to a high tech car but I guess this is the future.
