1995 M3 - Whats is it worth? Enthusiast opinions?

Ive been looking to buy myself a E39 5 series but came across a 1995 M3 for maybe a good price.. I wanted to know what the Enthusiast's Think its worth.

1995 BMW M3 Only $3,300

The big kicker is that it is a salvage title and that there is 185,000 on it.. However the guy claims that the reason it was a salvage was that it was a theft recovery, the stereo was stolen out of it... I was wondering what you guys think its worth.... Looks to be a true M3, it has the seats and dash in it. How can I tell if it is for sure the real thing? Vin??

The good side: owned it for a year, came from California, no rust. in the year he owned it he did some maintenance: Gaskets, belts, pulleys, Radiator, Cooling system. Also it has good tires, "race mods": K&N, Eibach lowering springs 1.5, fromt camber plates fixed at -2 degrees?, performance sport edition wheels, Racing ECU Chip.
Problems: driver window slips and lowers a fraction of an inch sometimes?, passenger windows motor does not work, missing several speakers, passenger tail light sometimes comes in and out?, struts need replacing soon. Also has an auto trans? oh and it looks to be purple in color...

Should I run or consider it? What would you guys value this at???

If you like it, go to a good Indy and have a pre-purchase inspection done.

I am more of a DIY Shade tree user/ mechanic.... If it looks and runs good, I dont see the point of taking it to a shop, It may be difficult to do as I live a few hours away and then having them take it to a shop, if one exists in the area even and also the time it would take for the shop to look at it? what would you value it at if things check out

Don't take my word for it, but if everything checks out nicely and there are no major issues, maybe $4-5k. Research common wear items and check as much of the car as possible. Be sure to drive the car to know if it feels right, as bent wheels or bad control arms and what not can cause steering vibration. Make sure that the car has never had a major accident that could compromise the frame.

It depends on what you are looking to accomplish. If its a project car you are wanting, then it might do the job. If you are looking for a daily driver/cruiser, then it might be worth spending a bit more money for a better sorted car, since if you take this car and work on updating it, you might end up paying almost the same for a better sorted car. Something to think about..

Make sure to get an inspection done on the car, but otherwise, I think it is worth $5k.
