Performance help for newbie

Hi All,
first time BMW owner, and first time poster here.

I just got the '07 335i sedan. I test drove a few of them and thought they were great. Then I looked around for one for awhile. finally, my local used car dealer found one at an auction. got a good deal, so I now own it!

but...
this one does not seem as "peppy" as either of the ones I test drove. maybe its just a mental thing. also, not great on gas at all.

I know the following questions are probably discussed over and over here, but please indulge a newbie. THANKS

1. planning on doing a tune-up since I dont know any of the service history, but I doubt that will help too much. What should I have done, aside from spark plugs? The car proudly boasts 94k miles. are there any tune-up items that will help with performance and gas mileage? please keep in mind, I'm asking if there is anything vehicle specific. not tune-ups for dummies

2. planning to do an cold air intake, and would like to get everyones 2 cents, for the best one. I have an AFE cai on my V8 chevy silverado (i know, its a horse of different color) and I think the AFE worked really well on it, so I am leaning toward that one.

3. want to do an after market tune. from what im reading on the posts, this will help speed and gas mileage !!. now I just need to pick the best one. oh boy... alot of people seem to like the JB3 (or JB4, dont know the difference). also see a "vishnu" tune and some others.
not looking to go cheap, but I do want the best bang for my buck. Which one do you think is the best?
