Mercedes-Benz To Take On BMW's X6

”x6comp”

BMW's X6 may be have some competition soon, from a new Mercedes-Benz called the MLC.

The MLC will be based on the M-Class platform and utilize pretty much the same running gear. There are plans for an AMG version is as well. This AMG version will use the 525 horsepower V8 engine found in the ML63 AMG. But why build such a vehicle, for a sub- segment that isn't very big or popular?Mercedes-Benz feels there is enough demand for such a vehicle. The X6 does well, where other X6 styled crossovers fell short. Also, since it shares a platform and drive with another of their vehicles, engineering work and costs are less, meaning profit margins will be high. I guess it makes sense. We'll have to wait and see how the MLC fares when it hits the dealers in 2014.

The benz looks hidieous. No competition for the X6.

Saw this online a few weeks ago.

That is super ugly.

Regardless, anyone who has driven both the BMW and MB knows that this crossover will pale in comparison. The MB is a soft ride. It doesn't have the performance, aggressiveness, and responsiveness of the BMW.

Good Luck to Them.

Generally, this form factor does not work. BMW has had success with the X6 because they went out of their way to make it look althletic, have broad shoulders, and give it a unique tough appeal. I would drive one.

I've never seen any other similar car that I would drive. The Acura ZDX was close, but it had thin little tires and nothing special under the hood. This Mercedes looks a little soft too.
