2011 328i N51 Coupe Service/Repair Manual?

Hello to the BMW community,

I was wondering if someone could point me in the direction of a proper service manual for my recent purchase, a 2011 328i Coupe iDrive with the N51 engine.

I like paper backed but a software/computer based is acceptable as well. I am an avid DIY'r and am looking to keep this car fully maintained and documented up through the 250,000 mile mark or 10 years, whichever comes first.

I will most likely put together a heavily picture intese "How To" for each of the common maintenance proceedures with teardown and build up and torque spec to help out with others and list them here on the forum as a quick reference guide.

I've done a Google search and the best I've found is that Bentley the covers up to 2010. I'm not sure how indepth it goes or if it would be considered a referance to the 2011 as well... which brings me to my quest.

The best option would to get my hands on the actual software that the BMW Dealership Service Departments use. I understand that there is going to be a price tag associated with what I am searching for.

The more specifics and detail the better (ie. complete interior, exterior, drivetrain, accessories, etc).

Thank you all!

I am very glad to have my Bentley, but often it is not very detail heavy. I am not a member there, but I have perused a number of DIYs at E90post. Also, there are some YouTube videos that have been extremely helpful to me, for example I don't know if I would have got around to doing my spark plugs if it wasn't for the excellent video made by Cobb.

I think I read that to get the same materials that BMW uses, it not only has a price tag, but I believe you must be a professional in the industry to even be allowed to purchase. If DSX sees this, he can share more details.

This all said, I look forward to your DIYs!

I'm not sure if one is out there already, but I'd welcome a video for coolant flush + electric water pump bleed. (Where you put temp setting at max, lowest fan, hold down throttle for was it 10 seconds...)

If you are interested in getting deeply into the car.

If you are interested in getting deeply into the car.
Bentley is the official repair manual.
I think a lot of the procedures are on computers now.

You should get a coding setup . This will give you diagnostic and programming
and its fairly cheap . Like a 100 bucks for kcan+dcan cable.
software is downloadable at torrent sites.(see links below)

If you buy some of the cable setups on ebay they come with some software including
a TIS Disk in some cases.(Technical information and Service disk)

more info at

bmwcoders.com

http://bmwcoders.com/forum/3-er-8/bm...1-e92-e93-291/

There are already a lot of procedures an useful info in the following links

http://www.e90post.com/forums/forumdisplay.php?f=16

http://www.e90post.com/forums/forumdisplay.php?f=378

The latest diag software is ISTA p as opposed to DIS57

http://www.e90post.com/forums/showthread.php?t=841974

There are other threads on this as well at the same location.

It will get more expensive if you have to buy and icom test head there is and
emulator for it that uses the cheap cable but there has been some debate on how
well it works.

There are entire diag setups available on ebay how well they work I don' know.
You should read as much as you can then read it again at the coding forums
before you decide on a path and lay down your bucks and time.

Also there is the BAV tool but it is VIN Limited and doesn't allow you to change or update
the software in the car.

I got something like this.

I got something like this.

http://www.ebay.com/itm/BMW-USB-OBD-...ba7963&vxp=mtr

Since I have and old car 06 this works for me but won't work for 07's and later without a
kcan + dcan cable. This is the old software that BMW use to use plus coding software.
I got most of it running and did some simple coding on my car.
If I were you I would go right for and ISTA setup with coding software.
You have to be good on PC's to get this to work .
I essentially had to learn VMware. I haven't kept up on the coding board so I don't know
what the current state of thing is there now.
There are entire diag setups available on ebay (with a computer preloaded and a icom head) how legit they are I don't know.
If you start doing software updates to your car and external regulated power supply is required do to the length of time
the cars electrical system is fully powered.
Look at these
