Pic of our condo in the Gulf Shores area after Ivan

This is a pic from a helicopter of our condo after Ivan passed through. It is right across the Alabama/ Florida state line in Perdio Key Florida. For those of you who might know, the pretty famous bar Florabama is just to the left of the pic next to the first condo being built. As far as we know the bar is half gone.

Our condo is the one on the beach directly in the center. This is a picture of the back. If you look closely you can see the pool in the center covered by sand. There used to be a gazebo (sp?) on each side, both gone. Right on the other side of the condo is the highway which is pretty much covered by sand.

Not too bad though -- it is still there (mostly).

you can be sure the bottom floor was flooded

just got home to Montgomery today (been out of town for 10 days), I live in a new area so trees are small and the power lines underground, no problem here but some of the older neighborhoods and outer areas just got power back today

Luckily the actual units didnt start until the first floor. The bottom was just a lobby.

Building codes require that waterfront housing be built above the base flood elevation. This eleminates putting any habitable room on the ground floor. Even houses on the waterfront must comply, so your 2 story home is really a 3 story structure.

I have been down there a few times, and recognize the picture. I have seen lots of bad pictures from down there.

Yikes. Although there are still buildings standing, it looks pretty wasted. It would be interesting to see a "before" picture to compare.

I hope that you guys get it cleaned up and back in business - and then invite Baumann and I to lounge there with you and some 19 year GF's of yours.

Or maybe your sister could join us ...

Looks like you have some friends down that way. From a "friend" on my boating message board:

"Not to make light of the situation but.......the FloraBama lounge is supposedly completely gone. To most of you that won't mean much, but to a guy like me who has been single almost his entire life and who has spent more than a few nights chasing members of the opposite sex while downing a cold one in establishments from Ft. Worth to Cozumel to Walkers Cay. I can tell you without hesitation that the FloraBama lounge was just about the coolest place on earth. It is the only bar I have ever been in and seen 30-40 women in one night that were honest to God 10's. I was told this would be the case before I went by another experienced single man and I told him no place had that many good looking women in it at one time. Well, I had to eat those words as I was left almost speechless at the incredible array of beauty that has been there each time I have gone. The other half of the deal is that this is considered a "must do gig" by all up and coming bands. The bands I have heard there ranged from blues to rock-n-roll but all were "dance on the tables" awesome! I know it is probably gone forever. The 40 years of "junk" on the walls was probably priceless. I am glad I had the opportunity to experience it. It is a memory I will treasure forever..........yes, I am serious about this!(this one of those things you either get or you don't, not everbody appreciates a really good bar. This one, was in my opinion, the best there was)."

That place is pretty much gone! It was a very popular and pretty neat place. Maybe they will rebuild it.

Judging by some of your posts, I would say 14, and never had any ...

Judging by pictures of you that have been posted here, I would say uh, 38.

heh, I'm still a kid at heart

and since I don't have a permanent blood alcohol level of 0.10 I don't find any medical aids to be necessary yet (at least not with the right partner )

Try having a wonderful wife, then it is all champagne and strawberries (or rhubarb pie in some cases).
