2014 Navigation Map upgrade

Does anyone know if there are significant upgrades to the Washington DC area in this map set ?

I got an ad from my dealer today advertising the 2014 maps. I need to upgrade but want to make sure it is not wasted on a map that did not update my area.

Your dealer needs to make a mortgage payment ...... Washington is pretty stable.

Roads change like the weather around here but I just don't know if they are on the new maps. I know they do different regions each year. Not sure if this one is our region.

I'm thinking strongly about getting it. We have a ton of new exits on the beltway and a lot of new roads where I work in Gaithersburg.

It would ONLY work on a CIC since the previous system didn't have a hard drive.

KHarney--

I'm loading the 2014 maps today. Not sure if DC-MD-VA is updated but it can't be worse than the 2009 maps I have now. The total cost is $50 plus had to buy a bigger USB flash drive, which I can use later for other things.

+1

Shawn has a thread posted about this, do a forum search. You download the files and pay him $50 to get the activation code. For non CIC systems, you would burn the files to DVD instead if using USB drives. Very easy to do the upgrade, it just takes a while to download the files, they're huge.

I have been looking at the 2014 Map torrent but was concerned about virus/Trojan horse problems. If it worked ok for you and others maybe I'm worried about nothing.

I was told there were 2 or 3 suppliers for the code. Who is best? Any contact suggestions?

I would highly recommend you PM ShawnSheridan here on the forum. I downloaded the files from his site, no issues whatsoever. He was very responsive, emailed me right away upon my request and sent links to the downloads and activation code immediately upon receipt of my payment via paypal.

If you go to a torrent site, check that the uploader has a colored skull that means he/she is good. This for ThePirateBay.

Great thread and I don't mean to thread jack, but where do you go for firmware updates? How do you know if your nav needs a software/firmware (not maps) update?

You have to go to BMW and pay 2 hours of labor to get the firmware updated. I found out because my car would not update maps through the USB port. Got the firmware updated, installed fine. Transmission also shifted smoother, apparently due to new firmware.

FYI you can do the '14 update through DVDs also. I did in my '09 E92 last month.

Re: 2014 Navigation Map upgrade

Does any map update have poi updates also for red light cameras or something. Such simple things cannot be added or pre-installed. Such a bummer!!!

Also did mine thru the DVD player. The torrent download is actually 3 seperate folders. you need Dual Layer DVD's for each one and about 3+ hours to update. I got a battery charger/maintainer and did it in my garage.

My torrent contained 2 files, a folder titled "pkgdb" and a file called "config.nfm". How would I have been able to install this from a DVD?
