Steering wheels

Just switched from a 2011 Z4 3.5 to a 2011 335is, and maybe I'm just not as used to it, but the steering wheel in the Z4 had a MUCH better feel to it than the perforated leather wrap on the 335is.

This is the one I'm talking about***********:

This might be a dumb question, but can I replace that leather-wrapped bit with something closer to the Z4 material, or would I have to replace the whole steering wheel? And is this easy, or are there issues like dealing with the airbag that I need to worry about? Steering wheels look like they're about $1000, so I'm hoping there's an easier way to do this.

Lease on the Z4 was up. Loved it, but wanted a back seat. The 335is feels a bit more engaged on the road, too.

I switched my Sport wheel with the thicker M Sport (may the one you currently have) and it made a huge difference. So yes, you can buy the wheel you like and swap it out. They aren't cheap, but it's pretty easy to do.

Yeah, it's an M Sport wheel, and I like the shape, I just don't like the perforated leather. I'm not even sure what the material was on the last one; Alcantara maybe?

I chose that one because I liked it better than the one in your picture. I don't know about Alcantara, but for sure you can buy the one in your picture. You can also sell the one you have. There would be a lot of interest in it I'm sure.

I think he has the M Sport. I think he wants the M3 wheel, and these wheel cost much more than $200. I don't remember what I paid, but I want to say like $500.
