New to me E90, couple Q's

We recently purchased a 2010 323i. It's a dream, perfect for what we need and a pleasure to drive. Black with black leather and tinted black windows along with 17" alloys.

My last car was a Bora TDI, which I knew all the ins and outs so I'm still acclimating myself to the world of BMW, and I've got a couple questions.

1. The iDrive system. Am I able to update the software/maps is this possible? Will it enhance the experience at all? I've noticed the maps are a bit out of date.

2. The rear brake light (the one on the back windscreen) is a bit loose on one side. We knew this when we bought the car. It's not detrimental, but wouldn't mind securing it once and for all. Any advice on this?

3. Any other tips, such as cleaning, protectants, things to keep an eye on, etc.. would be appreciated.

We're really in love with this car so are trying to make the most of it.
