Question 2006 bmw 330i e90

Hi I just got a very nice E90, Loving it so far, just have a few questions:

1. is there anyway to enable side mirror folding to fold and unfold when car starts/turns off

2. headlights, it seems that I can either choose to have the xenon lights on at ALL times but auto turn off when I turn off the car, or manually turn it on and of by hand, or lastly have it on at all times, even when car is turned off.
Anyway to mix all of these options into 1 simple solution like auto light mode, I turn on the car, if it s light outside headlights turn off, I drive into the night, it detects darkness and turn them on, I had that in my previous car and was a great option.

You can recode some things on the car with a coding setup

2. Switch the light to the left for auto on, and in iDrive (not sure how you would do w/o idrive) turn off the day light running light (that's probably what you are seeing).

Hi fb88, I do have an Idrive and I did try your idea, but even with the switch all the way to the left, the xenon lights are on during the day, I do have day time running lights on too.

My lights turn off (switch all the way to the left) and if I have day light running lights off.
Maybe your light sensor is broken.

If the lights remain on during the day then there's likely a malfunction in the system. When the switch is set to Auto the vehicle will automatically turn them on / off depending on the outside lighting. Also the adaptive feature of the lights is only available in the Auto mode.

Possibly because there's a problem with the system. According to the owners manual, page 77, the adaptive headlights function in the automatic position. Given the lights aren't turning on / off in the automatic position I suspect there's a problem with the system. I'd suggest you have it checked out by a competent BMW mechanic.

1. not with out reprogramming.
2. try this - make lite switch to AUTO and turn on fog light.

Congrats on Limited Edition BMW.

ok so I figured it out, I guess even right outside the garage the lights turn on, but as I pull the car all the way out in the sun the shut off, so it might be that the sensor is somewhat sensitive, I also verified that when the switch is all the way in auto the adaptive head lights are working. I do have 1 more question. there is a big read knob on my rear view mirror what is that for? looks like there is a light inside it, but it never turn on, is it an alarm?

thanks for all your help.

Ah ha! Some missing information Yes, the "clown nose" is for an alarm. Can't recall what the configuration is for the 3-series so others can chime in.

Lights always on in the daytime could be programming.

Lights always on in the daytime could be programming.
When the car is purchased you have some options as to how the lights work
or your state may have rules that require DRL's on for a new car.
This can be reprogrammed with a coding setup.
