can you say "Drug-Fueled Excess" ?

(If this bass line was any more brutal, it would knock the enamel right off your teeth....)

and then......F>A>S>T-F>O>R>W>A>R>D> 30 years....

The maniac is still at it !

(Trivia: Iggy has never owned a shirt....)

OK. This one pretty much says it all..... in a slightly twisted way. Great for moderate freeway traffic at 80+.

War Story:

Sometime in 1980....this song was blasting on the radio. Joey Perino was at the wheel of his brother`s Trans Am 6.6....Buster Marrone was riding shotgun, I was in the back....we were flying low, doing about a buck-twenty on the Staten Island Expressway. For some strange and unexplained reason, I saw Buster reach up near the sun visor. By the time I realized what he was doing, it was too late....he popped the release latch, and the passenger side T-top blew out of it`s position and went flying across the highway behind us (!). Luckily, Joey had a cool head, and maintained perfect control of the car.
We laughed about that for years afterward.

I miss Joey...a sudden and massive heart attack took him at age 54....

Great song. Great band. I've seen them 3 times, maybe 4. Just a couple years ago at the Wang Theatre in Boston in fact.

Yes....I was fortunate to have grown up in a music-rich environment....my influences came from Motown, the British Invasion, Dylan, the emerging psychedelic scene, and later on, the Punk/New Wave movement, eventually leading into the grunge influenced music. My older cousin Russell was the Black Sheep of the family, he was a hard-core Beatnik ("pre-Hippie") who was obsessed with Middle-Period jazz (Dave Brubeck, Modern Jazz Quartet, Miles Davis, etc.)....he turned me on to all those albums, and broadened my horizons....

Re: Official E46 Music Thread

The new music just does not compare, or I may not be looking hard enough. I like the same stuff as you guys. Now it's all style and little substance. A fancy outfit, or a stylish set does not make up for lack of talent. I miss the days when I could drive to FDU in Madison and see the likes of Poco or the New Riders.

Cool! I picked up guitar as a kid, starting w Hendrix, the who, the police, u2 and REM. did garage band covers in high school and then original alternative and pop-punk tunes in college. Now, the half stack in the bedroom just entertains the neighbors and passers-by whenever I decide to turn it up.

Big Motown bass line fan. Bob Babbitt is my favorite bass player. A real master. I never had a "sound" until I listened to him. Of course, it's by myself, in the home office, because after I got married, bought a house, had a kid, etc.etc.

John Lennon

Shot down 33 years ago today. My girlfriend (now wife) and I were half asleep, trying to make it through the 11 o`clock news. "A man tentatively identified as John Lennon has been shot outside the Dakota just minutes ago" was the first announcement.

"Do you think it`s true ?" asked my wife.

"I doubt it", I replied...."Who would want to shoot John ?"

But, it was all too real....

Re: Official E46 Music Thread

A sad day for sure. I was in San Fran at the time. We all went to Golden Gate state park, partied hard, and listened to some great musicians playing his music live. Hate to admit I had tears in my eyes.
