Listen to this through some good headphones....

Fagen did an incredible job of nailing down the late-`50s Cold War mentality on this album....

Joe Cocker with a sweet Reggae version

of this old classic, originally done by the likes of Nina Simone, Eric Burdon & The Animals, and others....

(it`s also the outro track from "Layer Cake")

Layer Cake is a great movie. Daniel Craig was good, but Colm Meaney is prob. one of the most underrated actors out there.

and since we`re talking about Jeff Beck....

here he is again, this time around, with a very young Rod Stewart on vocals....

Yamaha R-90 receiver
Sony PS-x600 turntable
Shure v70 cartridge
Realistic Optimus 400 speakers, I refoamed them last year, I bought the speakers from one of our customers that managed a RS store back in the 80's. This guy has a collection of speakers in his attic, many unopened/new from 30 years ago.
I had all the Beck vinyl. Had. Approx 20 yrs ago I spent some time in Florida and my loving sister yard-saled a lot of my vinyl. I've been rebuilding my catalog over the last couple years.
Recently found a mint copy of Walls and Bridges from a guy in London, perfect cover and lyric sheet. Prized vinyl is a Mobile Fidelity Led Zeppelin 2 and In through the out door still in the paper wrap.
I always wanted to get into reels, but never made the investment.

My copy of Truth was sold/stolen. Wasn't there a quote on the back about having vicar over for tea?

Nice....vinyl is making a serious comeback (albeit at New Millenium prices ) But, the audiophile-quality pressings really DO sound great....I recently bought a couple from Music Direct, and just before Christmas, they sent me a real nice 250-page catalog that made me drool all over my shoes....

I prefer vintage equipment, mainly from the 1970s....I`m a sucker for those real walnut cases and nice, machined-aluminum knobs and faceplates....they just have personality up the wazoo (and they sound real nice, too ! )

This my `70s-vintage Pioneer setup:

Pioneer made some strong stuff back then. I have a Toshiba receiver from approx. 1978.
Only 35 watts, so it doesn't pull like the Yamaha, but it reproduces voice better.
I forgot about Music Direct. Probably shouldn't look into it!

Re: Music Direct....Their turntable selection alone nearly sent me into a coma....They run the gamut from $300 to $35,000 (!), as well as an incredible selection of phono cartridges which range up to $10,000....NICE stuff....

Sent from my SPH-L900 using Bimmer App
