"Light" damage repaired by a BMW certified shop in Ill, but has a salvage/rebuilt title from Indiana? Hood/fenders/front bumpers don't line up right. Pass.

If the car was worth 30-35k when crashed and the insurance compay wrote it off, it means the car had 20-25k of damage, so I would not exactly call that light damage. BMW's are expensive to fix but 20+ grand in repairs is still a lot - bumper hood fenders could be an easy 5 grand, headlight is like 1200 alone, but that makes me wonder what else was damaged if the radiator was not, maybe front suspension?

Tgey would not salvage title light damage. Front driver seat is not original seat. I just had new front driver door, fender, bumper, one headlight replaced, and small dent on side of hood repaired, and that cost $12,000. Car was nailed by tractor trailer while parked. My car was 2011 335xi sedan.
Dont bother with this car!!

There is a reason why people are willing to pay good money to get a one owner, clean title with low miles used BMW.

And that reason is to stay away from cars like this. Even if it didn't bite you being a rebuilt title (which it will) repair wise the resale would be horrible after any miles were put on it.

The price has really jumped up on this ($11K since I looked two days ago). Not surprised...this type of car, even with a salvage title, would be a decent buy at $11K. Twelve more hours and we'll see what it went for.

The car has now reached its 'parted out' value. Any higher and the new owner had better plan on driving it a long time.

You better be a good mechanic

If you cannot see pics of before and you are not a mechanic don't do it.
My car is salvage title and they replaced the bumper, both fenders, hood, radiator, a/c condenser, both head lights, basicly all the front end, but it had 47,000 miles also they lowered the front end rear, put M3 kit and the AFE cold air. It cost me $22,000. The only thing I have done to it is replace the two rear tires.

The bid price is now up to $25,000.

And there are still several hours to go on the bidding.

That is a lot more than I would pay for it.

I'm getting the impression this guy knew what he was doing when he decided not to put a reserve price on the car. Be interesting to see what the closing price is.

Did anyone else notice the condition of the tires? Recovered theft?
Also, the guy says he has driven the car 5k miles. Take a look at what else he has sold on eBay, obviously a dealer.

You'd have to be a complete numbskull to pay $25.9K for that car.

Somebody thinks that they got a great deal. He did put AS IS, so when the car falls apart he can say oh well. Sucks to be you. Crazy.......

I know the car was sold without reserve, a tactic usually done to elicit interest, quick bidding, and an eventual competition among bidders. It doesn't mean it really sold. It is a common tactic for a dealer to list "without reserve" and then use an alias to bid. If the bids don't reach the real minimum then the alias outbids everyone else and only really has to pay the eBay percentage. It's a small risk to take.
OTOH, someone may have purchased a salvage title car hoping for the best. If a salvage title immediately knocks 25% off resale value, and an accident only another 10%, then this dubious background car was no bargain.

eBay can be a sketchy world .... on this one the buyer had almost no feedback .... I hope the seller gets paid .... or as you suspect the seller may have been the buyer ..... now a "sales price" has been established if it needs to be re-listed.

The last pricey item (well it was only an iPad) I sold on eBay ...... the high bidder never paid.
