Service engine light but car runs great

Hey guys just tonight I was out drive my 330 and all of sudden I got a service engine soon light and the car just broke 100k on it so I check the control checks and this one icon popped out it was red with an ! In the middle I don't know what it is cause I don't have a scanner and I don't know if it has to do with the OEM alarm I installed and it was programmed correctly as well just maybe twice the alarm has went off for no reason to my knowledge and the battery is new so than I don't know what it is so if you guys can help me out who had this before ?

Apparently they're wrong or else you wouldn't be seeing the warning. With that said the first thing you should do is have the codes read. You could try a generic ODBII reader (Autozone / O'reily Auto Parts will read them for free / loan you one) but this could be the result of a BMW specific code and therefore a BMW specific code reader will be necessary. Any reasonable BMW mechanic would probably read the codes for you at no cost.

Yeah you could be right ima check at autozone if they can scan it and if it's more specific like you say I'll take to a bmw shop that I go to scan it

Hey guys I got the codes and they are P0139 and P0159 I was told it's the O2 oxygen sensors from bank 1 and 2 do any of you guys know anymore of these sensors ?

Those are both post cat O2 sensor codes.

Post cat O2 sensors are not used for engine performance. They are only there to monitor catalytic converter efficiency. That's why you don't feel an issues with the car.

They are easy to replace and only 1 splash shield needs to be removed to access them. But you may need a special tool. I was able to replace mine with a normal wrench but you mileage may vary.

The OEM sensors are quite expensive. Over $200 if I recall correctly.
