I've bought every hose except for these, cannot locate them on any diagrams.

the top one circled with question mark got shred to bits.

What is it?

Any help please

Thanks in advance.

1. Replace your engine mounts. Search for the DIY written by "BlackBMWs".

2. Search forum for M62 cooling overhaul.

Jesus, engine mounts for this? Seems unwarranted, all because a plastic bag.

I can see what looks like the BMW part nbrs written on the hoses you have circled. Its not clear enough to read...but you should be able to read them in person if we can see them in the pic you took.

If its only 7 digits long...then it's the last 7 digits of 11 digit BMW part nbr...you can enter all 11 or the last 7 into the part nbr search at any of the online part databases like realoem.com or bmwfans.info .

There are usually three different reasons for an exploded fan, and a plastic bag usually isn't one of them:
- What could cause a BMW fan blade to explode or disintegrate (1) (2) (3) (4) (5)

I'm not a dr. but I picked out small chunks of plastic bag behind the fan. Million to one shot doc.

I already purchased a new fan along with everything else. Going to diy it this weekend. Bmbblebee, saw one of your posts about the special tool needed to remove the fan blade, gonna have some fun trying to use something else to remove it. Hate buying one time use tools.

I did hate this too. Unfortunately, it's not one time use tool if you plan to DIY in future. Now I hate I didn't buy/make it the first time.

V8 engine, this is the story for new people...

Engine Mounts crack, allowing the engine to lift up and down, Plastic Fan Blade hit Plastic Fan Shroud.
Now the broken blades fly apart at high rpm, slicing everything in the way (PS hoses are severed, rad hoses are severed etc.).

If you don't take care of the engine mounts, as soon as you put in new hoses, radiator, fan blades, you will have another kaboom and back to square one.

ugh, I should take care of that. I still have to re-time the engine anyway. One big headache. I feel like i would have sometime in between redoing this fan and re-timing the engine. That's when i would put new mounts. I don't drive a lot anyway. BLAH

BTW, the plastic bag had nothing to do with this saga.

There needs to be a controlled experiment done w/ a plastic bag and a engine fan.
