Service History Information (08 328i Coupe)

Hi Everyone,

I first want to say Thank You for having this forum. I have found so much useful information over the years coming here.

I am looking for help on information for the car that I own. I purchased this vehicle as a certified Pre-owned car from my local BMW dealership about a year and half ago. Its now been a little while and wanted to know the history of the car in more detail on what services have been performed. The local dealership will only provide me the service records since I've owned the car, but nothing prior. I also have an Audi and they easily provide me the full details anytime I want.

I wasnt sure if anyone reccommended a carfax type report or had the ability to look up this information?

Any help would be greatly appreciated. I would just like to better understand the car and be able to provide the history of the car once I pass it along to someone else.

VIN: WBAWB33548P132191

Hi - BMW's policy is that you don't own the service information, they do. You won't get it, period.

As to soliciting 'Carfax type reports', that would be both illegal and a violation of the site terms of use.

You can however lookup the car build sheet here:

Cool! Although I knew most of this already.

For those of you lacking in the German language it asks for the last 7 characters of your VIN.

It would be awesome if I could get the service history on my car. I just purchased it in November from a Toyota dealership but wasn't able to see the history of the car besides what was provided on car fax.

The best I've been able to do is to track down the dealership the original owner bought and serviced the car at and have them over the phone tell me what's on the service records and I jotted everything down on paper.

I called back again a few weeks later to see if I could convince someone to send me the service records and the next guy who answered the phone said he could only give me what recalls have been done and none of the service records like the previous person gave me.

No joke, the guy said they cannot give out what service has been done because of lawsuits, something about how a feuding couple used those records to somehow F with the brakes of almost kill their spouse.

I'm not making this up BTW.

Usually, as long as you have the paperwork that you own the car, they'll print you the service records, just cutting off the part with the previous owner's information. If they say no for whatever reason, try a different dealer. You need to know what was done to the car, since their work carries a warranty. What if they had just replaced something a year ago, and it fails again? You would have no way of knowing that they should be covering it.
