2011 E70 LCI Diesel Euro Tail Lights

Hi all,
I own a US Spec E70 LCI Diesel, and was thinking of putting on the Euro Spec (Amber Turn Signals) Tail Lights. I am currently in Germany, and have access to numerous BMW Dealers. I was wondering if any one knows whether I can use the Euro Spec Tail Lights, and would I need to re-program the car brain after installation?

Mike

Yes you can. In the UK I had to have mine switched to be legal here.

They will work without having to reprogram the car. Now that being said, if you want the rear fog light, you will have to get a new switch panel and then you would need it to be programmed to add the fog light.

Can you find out how much the Euro rear tail lights cost in Germany ?
I have always loved the amber rear turn signal instead of the crappy & confusing red here in the US.

I believe they are part numbers 63217227789 and 63217227790, haven't been able to find them at the normal places like ECS though.

Part Numbers correct

I did some research, and you are correct on those part numbers! Will be down in Nurnberg today, and will get current prices on the lights. I was told that those numbers are for just the corner pieces of the light set.

Legal in the US

I had a friend that just went back to Texas, with a Audi Q7, who had the Euro Spec Audi Tail lights installed prior to shipping the car back there, and he went through DOT there with NO ISSUES!! LOL
The US lights are all red, (including rear Turn Signals) Euro ones give all of those behind you a better idea of your intentions :-)

Yes, bot red and yellow turn signals are allowed in US.
Audi switched b/w red and yellow for the same body style A6 in early 2000s.
