So hard to get one now, it keeps getting delayed, too much pre orders... My local dealership will receive ONE S550 for $133,000 and they won't even put it on sale!!

Funny you said A7 rear end - it reminds me of an old Datsun 240z. Very nice front end but that rear end is kind of funky and Im not a fan. Let me find a google image

OT: Detailed look at the new S550

Look, slapping two rectangle screens is so 1983 it behooves the mind why MBZ would miss something that freaking big! We live in an age where LCD screens can literally be designed to form and shape, and be transparent and bendable like some of the screens found in Sony and Samsung products.

It's like my GL550. The interior and the cluster is so lame and old school, that they finally made the 2013 models with Color LCD where it was normally monochrome pixelized clusters.

It's as if the interior engineers don't do the same quality of work as the engineers who work on the heart of the design (engine, trans, suspension, drive and handling etc.). They don't bother to bring to life the same interior attributes as the engineers who do working on the other parts of the car they are so well known for.

I saw it in person, and it is worse than in the picture. I remember the first time I saw it on my iPad looking at some magazine, I thought "that cannot be right". Well, it just shows that at the end of the day, they are inferior to BMW and Audi, even Lexus when it comes to design, form, functionality, and user interface.

It's ugly, it's wrong, and I would fire everyone who ok'd the car to production that worked on that part of the design. It's so obvious.

I bet you anything that it will change by next year. How could you look at this and think it's anything but ugly, bad, and wrong? http://backfires.caranddriver.com/fo...d-in-spy-photo

It's like something you'd find on the dash of a tour bus.
What an idiotic post.
I get that you don't like it, but that's simply your taste.
The last s-class already had dual LCD's. They just made them larger; that's about it.
I for one like the interior which I consider better than either our 2012 750li or the 2013 A8 we drove in Germany a while back.

At the end of the day, I am happy that there are so many cool cars to choose from. Wether you pick a BMW, Audi, MB or Porsche they all have their strengths and weaknesses. Take your pick; be happy... No reason to talk everything else down.

Did you guys see the new $75K Maseratti Ghibili. Good looking car but it has a whole bunch of Chrysler parts in it (seats, control screen, etc).

Ndavani - maybe that is something you want to look into. It suppose to compete with 5 series and E class so it may not be that big inside. Or maybe TESLA. Im actually looking at a Panamera. Very pricy but it hold its value very well.
http://www.maserati.us/maserati/us/e...interiors.html

I just recently been in a TESLA. Very nice car, roomy, tons of technology, very nice look in white, tons of storage. At least the sunroof opens unlike the new S550 Sport package as you see in the video above. LOL
The video is wrong. The panorama sun roof on the S550 lifts and/or slides back to fully open. It also automatically closes if it starts raining and the car is standing...

You guys must not have seen the interior in person. I sat in one the other day- it's hands down the nicest interior, ever, literally. And that's not just me, every review has them speechless on the interior. I cannot get over how beautiful it is and the fit and finish is astonishing. The seats are also the most comfortable ones I've ever sat in. My local dealer said he would hook me up in the spring.

Looks like there are 3 different leather setups in that car. The base looks to have a vinyl dash and upper door just like the 7 without the executive package. The top of the line gets diamond stitching and looks like a bentley. Price isn't online for the top of the line, but the mid-level extended nappa was 2-3k extra. Sounds about right as that's what they used to charge for extended leather on our 7's before it became part of the exec package. I'd skip the burlwood as when there's such a big panel of it, i feel it does look too buicky. That gray wood with the silver dust in it looks pretty damn awesome.

At least BMW has time to get their isht together for their Flagship 7...

Don't get me wrong... Driving Dynamics is what keeps bringing me back to BMW. But they seriously MUST compete from a Luxurious standpoint as well.

New BMW 5 series have something similar, but it's not even close to S class from what I was told.

The exclusive diamond stitched nappa leather with full leather treatment on dash, etc. costs $4.5k btw.

The new S Class features and tech look awesome.

I am just not feeling the styling, outside or in. Design details seem overwrought (headlights, grill, dash and tail lights), but still lacks enough excitement to give me that gotta have it feeling.

I sat in the S550 today and I wasnt that impressed with how comfortable seats are. I think the 7series has more comfortable seats. Yes, massager is great but the seats I was in - were not. I know that there are 2-3 upgrades of seats. Dash is nice, controls are OK. Steering wheels is pretty nice.

The S63 looks fun, might pick one up in a few years time when it's worth half the price.

Imagine Marissa Miller (Victoria's Secret model) with a broken nose and shaved eyebrows.

This thing is a monster, and demonstrates MBZ's desire to go uber-crazy with over the top power, and neon color LED lighting. I'm sorry, that dash cluster is a cluster-pluk on epic proportions. WHO DOES THAT?

It's so distracting. Almost like being in the cockpit of an Airbus. The dash cluster is never intended to be an open theatre show for everyone in the vehicle. It probably will woo people, especially at night where you can't see the borders of how it is situated into the dash. Nevertheless, it's tastelessly done and the exterior of the vehicle looks very plastic-like.

They have used some very fine materials which is nice, but outside of that, it's a freaking donkey dressed up to look like a thoroughbred with massive balls under the hood. Freaking Oger. Yuk!

Yes, the sad part is that S class coupe will cost waaay more than S class sedan... Unlike BMW 6 series, sedan costs more than a coupe...
