e90 buyout or lease F30

Hello!

I would really appreciate any advice with a decision that I need to make. My lease on my e90 is up in 2 months. It's a 2011 335i (30k miles) with M Sport, Premium, HK, etc... and I've absolutely loved having the car for the past 3 years. I am considering purchasing the vehicle (will need to negotiate buyout with BMW FS), but am concerned about reliability over the next 5 years or so. I drive about 10k miles per year. I recently had some issues with the Vanos that had to be replaced, so that has me even more concerned. Any advice on reliability? The other option would be to lease an f30 335 with m-sport, but that's less ideal from a financial standpoint.

Thanks!
Sami

if you think E90 335i has reliabilty issues then F30 possibly on the same boat. As they both share the same engine

f30 WILL GIVE YOU ANOTHER 3 YEARS OF WARRANTY and peace of mine.... then you have the same question in 3 years time

what I may do

1. buyout 335i and engotaite for a really good deal then buy 2 years extended warranty (costs about $2000), if the total amount is less than 3 years lease payment of F30 then I take this option as in 2 years time I can sell the car and get some money back
2. IF NOT lease F30 335i

you need to compare option 1 and 2

Things may have changed, but IIRC, BMWFS doesn't negotiate. (Or at least didn't in the past.) If you don't want it, they send the lease return off to auction.

I didn't lease, but I purchased the extended warranty before my original warranty expired. I bought the "platinum" warranty because it covers the radio -- which has been the most troublesome part of the car.

Mine is in line for a stereo new amp-- which is badly back ordered.

I have more than a year left on the extended warranty. I'm not sure what I'll do when it expires. (It's getting harder and harder to find new station wagons with manual transmissions.)

FS doesnt negotiate. If you are close with people at your dealership, see if they negotiate to buy the car and maybe they can save you a couple bucks

Are you wealthy? A lot of disposable income? If yes, keep your "loved" E92. In my experience with keeping German cars beyond their warranty period...I WILL NEVER DO IT AGAIN. No need to go into the gruesome details. Then again you may be an avid "DIY" person...I'm not.

Sounds like a daily driver so you my want to just keep leasing new cars.

My E92 is my fun car (I drive a cheap to own but very straight accord for my DD), I have a great warranty (5 year 60k miles, ends in 2018 or 83.3k miles) for $2.2k and I'm not afraid to garage the car and turn some wrenches.
Add in the fact that my 07 only has 26k miles and things should be pretty manageable for long term ownership but again that's mainly cause I don't have to depend on it.

That's what I mean, my 07's body looks brand new and the interior still smells new. I bought it for 1/2 the price of when it was new in 07.

Hell even if I had $3k-$5k in repairs over the next few years id still feel good about my purchase.

If I keep it in good shape and didnt rally it every single day it could still be worth 15-20k in 5 years, I bought it for $26k. That's good TCO let alone having it be a BMW.
