Is it possible to get wheel & tire insurance on a car that you've already been driving around on? Maybe they do some type of inspection? This time around the dealer wanted too much for a policy so I declined. Didn't have any problems with the 19's on my last 7, but I'm guessing these are more fragile in combination with the lower profile tires. Typically I alternate insuring certain things in life that I only find moderately risky, so with car tires and rims it's usually every other lease - but hearing about the fragility of these bad boys is making me second guess my actuarial skills!

I thought you can get additional insurance you might have waived after 30 days of purchase of a new car? I remember my dealer allowing this.

Wonder if you can get insurance on just the rim if you buy it from the dealer?

Why don't you sell me one of your front wheels and then go buy a custom set? If I had one more front, I would have a complete set and would do a black chrome on them just to have some change now and then.

Never had a problem with the insurance replacing all those tires, and after talking about this stuff over the past two days, I just got another huge bubble in tire again of the 750. I hit a small bump, looked at my partner and said there goes another tire! Sure enough I need one..

I believe it's the added weight of the RWS that pushes the load on the tires and wheels over their acceptable threshold. I have no RWS, and I have had no problems. The connection is indisputable. I also have tire and wheel insurance that they threw in with a few other things to get me to buy my 7. At the time I thought it was just a BS sales tool, but it sounds like it may come in handy, should I ever retrofit an RWS.

Be warned now, just ask Ghost Protocol what happened when he tried to please the RWS gods with a retrofit.....

With all due respect, that was his fault. He was offered RWS insurance when he ordered the RWS retrofit and decided not to take it. He had it coming considering the value of that single piece of wood!
