Looks like a very respectable car. The true test will be whether the parking lot where I work will start to see these in the spots. I'm tempted. I will certainly test one.

.97g on the skidpad on runflats vs. .86g for the 550i. BMW has some work to do.

Edmunds tested CTS V. They could not match 0-60 4.4. The best they could do was 5.0 sec. However it did very well in handling and breaking.

4.4 was probably done on slicks with perfect track prep =D my 550xi does 4.3 on regular street tires logged via Vbox.

. the CTS testing was done on stock Pirelli run flats. Autoweek got similar results at 4.5 seconds.

This isn't the CTS-V It is a CTS V Sport. The CTS-V will be out next year and will probably be pushing 600HP.

Cadillac is on an upward trajectory with each model iteration in their line up.
However what you will notice is that the powertrain combinations and configurations are somewhat limited.

Case in point, want your Vsport with AWD? Sorry can't get it. If you want the AWD you have to take the regular normally aspirated 3.6 motor. You also then lose the 8 speed transmission and get a hand me down 6 speed. Then you are no longer comparing against a 550i but a 528i X drive in terms of performance.

If your in the market for a RWD, then it does definitely merit consideration.

You're thinking of the ATS which is already being called a better handling car than the F30.

Heh.Watch your language. I'm a grandpa and I am very discriminating about the kinds of 'butts' I support. That is why I have a 5 series.Nice "butt".

Cadillac is not your old timer's car necessarily any more. It performs.

You're comparing your tuned 550 to a stock cadillac cts vsport?

It is a good wake-up observation from the OP about the competition. I would wonder about depreciation of Cadillacs compared to similar priced and equipped BMWs. BMWs command a premium here and the name is up there at the top of the list.I do not like the interior compared to a 528/535/550 which all seem better quality and ergonomically superior. Performance is another subject and it can really be subjective notwithstanding hard performance data.

I also wonder whether Cadillac is getting a bit ahead of itself on the pricing. A CTS v-sport premium is $70K. You can get very nicely equipped 550i for $70K. I wouldn't completely rule out a caddy (heck I drive a lexus now), but it would have to come at a sizable discount to a comparable BMW.
