Thumbs up Enable/disable vehicle state inspection service reminder

Hi all,
While looking through the manual for service information I came across a section that described the CBS (condition based service) and noticed that it also tracks vehicle state inspections. In NY we need to get an inspection every year but I couldn't find the option in iDrive. The other services are listed but the vehicle inspection was not. I tried the method using the BC stalk and trip reset button and again it lists all other services but not the inspection. I'm pretty bad at remembering when I'm due for an inspection so I thought this would be nice to have. I'm not sure why it wasn't enabled since the car originated in NY but I didn't feel like asking the dealer so I did it myself using DIS and the K+DCAN cable.

The procedure is as follows:
1. Open DIS.
2. Select "Diagnosis".
3. Select the appropriate vehicle (eg. X Series; X5-E70) then click the green right arrow.
4. DIS will ask if you want to automatically run a quick test. I select "No" otherwise you have to wait until it completes and we don't need it for this.
5. Once in the "Vehicle Identification" screen click the green right arrow again.
***Around this time DIS may ask if you want to run a quick test (if you previously selected "No" before) and I just selected "No" again.
6. In the "Symptom Selection" screen click the "Function selection" button.
7. In the "Function and component selection" screen, select the following (in order):
[Functions] Service functions->Maintenance->Reset CBS Condition Based Service
[Part functions] (blank)
[Components] Reset CBS Condition Based Service
8. Click the "Test schedule" button.
9. In the "Test schedule" screen click the green right arrow.
***At this point DIS will ask if the date/time listed is correct. If you select "No" it will kick you out and ask you to change it in the Administration section. If you do that the entire DIS system will need to reboot and it takes a little while. For this it's not important because we will not reset any other services which would use the listed date/time as the start point. Note that when you click "Yes", DIS will update your vehicle date/time which will probably be wrong because most/all of us are using a VM and the date/time is not in sync. You will need to set the correct date/time in your vehicle afterwards.
10. In the "Test information" screen, bottom right box, you'll see the services to reset. We want "Vehicle - Exhaust emission" so select the "2" button and click the green right arrow.
11. On the next screen we want "Vehicle inspection" so select the "3" button and click the green right arrow.
12. Finally there is where you either enable or disable it. Select the appropriate button then click the green right arrow.
13. If you've enabled it DIS will ask you to specify a month (2 digits) and year (2 digits) of your next inspection. Enter them and click the green right arrow to continue along.
14. The next screen shows what you entered and gives the choice of committing the date or entering in a new date. If correct, select "Enter date in vehicle" [1] and press the green right arrow.

DIS will then add it and now you're done. Exit out of DIS and set the correct date/time via iDrive or however you do it. When you look in the service section of iDrive you should now have the Vehicle Inspection service listed (or no longer listed if you disabled it) and from now on you can simply click that entry and change the date as needed.

Wow, typing out the steps makes it sound like there's so much to do but in reality it's pretty simple. The following screenshots show all the steps in order for clarity (just to make this post even longer... sorry!)
