Replaced front break pad and rotor and the sensor - break light is still on!!

Replaced front break pad and rotor and the sensor - break light is still on! Took it to Pep Boys and they couldn't figure it out. Not wanting to take it to the dealer, but what are my options. Any advice from those that have done their brakes before?? Thank you!

On my rear brake replace last summer, the light came back on after about 25 miles. The new sensor that had been installed was bad, and needed to be replaced. No issues since then.

This does assume that you've tried resetting the indicator light manually.

You can test to see if a sensor is bad by shorting the 2 wires for the sensor and then resetting the light. If it goes out, it's the sensor.

Are you sure the rear brakes don't need to be changed? Or brake fluid is due?

I'd check the condition of the rear pads, if they are worn the sensor will also trip.

"Break" light?

I assume that when it lights up something is broke.

Haha, no I clarified on the second post that it's my 2008 328i (just got the 5). I try to avoid the dealership once the warranty goes out!

I suppose I will have to take it somewhere else . . . Rear brake pads were just replaced before warranty expired!

Those're the brakes! But....Pep Boys? I am amazed at anyone taking their BMW to Pep Boys or Sears.....find an Indy specializing in BMW.

Now, an unrelated question: Are the words "Impeachment" and "Doom" beginning to resonate?

.

Cal, stop preaching. I may be in your choir, but we need to sing in OT.
