Undercarriage Noise - oil change ?

Hi, all , E90 2006 330i owner here .. with some tire noise issues ..

Q) Is it possible that during my last oil change that the mechanic forgot to close something up in the Undercarriage area ?

Reason I ask, is that there seems to be a LOT of noise coming from the tires.. I have been living with this for 2 months now ,, and was just assuming my tires had suddenly gotten way noisier (Goodyear F1 all season).

But now that I think of it , something could have been messed with during my last oil change.

Any ideas out there ? I don't think I can prop up the car to see if there is something amiss.

thanks all !

I am not able to get a good look under there .. don't have any way of hoisting the car up high enough.

Does anything have to be removed underneath to do a simple oil change ?

A little cute trap door is flipped open to access to oil drain plug. This is removed to drain the oil, and then it is reinstalled (best at a specific torque, but many do that finger tight method) with a new crush washer. Short answer: no. (I mean if you were missing a drain plug, you would know in a hurry!)

If you can't access the views underneath, you really only have one option... take it to your local indy for an inspection. If you're paying that small half hr fee and they only look around for a couple of minutes, might as well get your money's worth, ask a few questions, maybe ask their opinion on the state of the suspension, take a few pics, I dunno...

Just look under & see if the drain door is open. It would flap in the wind if not secure. No need to raise the car to look.

tires do get nosier as they wear off, check your tire pressures as well.

I can't see any possible connection to an oil change and "sudden" increase in tire noise. You're really stretching things IMO.

I too doubt that an oil change would cause new noises under the car. The plastic shrouds under the car are held in place by a lot of small screws and missing a few of these would create a vibration at speed of the plastic shroud. Reach under and tap various areas to see if anything is loose.

You may have developed tread separation in one tire totally unrelated to the oil change but at the same timing. Have it checked by a tire shop. I recently had a strip of tread rip off a tire which was pretty scary at highway speed. It's worth checking for separation as it not just a problem of the past.

A flood did that for me last year on my 328. The engine bay was filthy with dust in the summer, but otherwise
