BMW master tech diagnostics

For the members who don't know me.... SEARCH! You'll find I have countless positive feedbacks from numerous members all over the country. I'm a BMW master tech with tons of experience in repairing and diagnosing these vehicles. Although I'm limited to performing actual repairs on cars within driving distance to NY, I can still diagnose most vehicle's by seeing the fault codes stored. I'm offering a remote diagnostic service (for a $50 fee) that will lead forum members in the right direction. Here's how it works:

1) I've been using the BMW IOBD2 diagnostic scanner (only available for i-phone, i-pod, i-pad) for comparison to the genuine BMW ISID (dealer diagnostic equipment).... and it works great! This aftermarket tool can read almost all fault codes in all BMW models and ALL control modules without issues. The fault codes generated are BMW manufacuter specific fault codes, not the generic ones! This tool is available for about $150 from ebay, here's a link:

http://www.ebay.com/itm/Iobd2-BMW-Pr...6be95e&vxp=mtr

2) Once you have the tool/adaptor connected to your car and you have performed a full diagnostic scan, take a screen shot of the fault code entry list (by holding the button on top and pressing the round button on front of the i-phone). This screen shot is now saved to your camera roll so it can be emailed to me for review.

3) Since there will be cosiderable time consumed on my end to respond to these emails with an accurate diagnosis, I can't do it for free. I'm asking for a $50 fee sent via paypal. Please PM me or email me at bmwoem1@gmail.com so we can set everything up prior. If it's something I think cannot be diagnosed remotely (without me physically there touching the car), I'll tell you not to waste your time/money.

4) Don't hesitate to post questions/concerns/suggestions here! I will answer them as best possible

Just send me a PM with the previous repairs already performed by the dealer and the circumstances when the squeal happens, im not going to charge you for something like this

Here are some screen shots of an E90 with water pump faults (bmw fault codes) and also shots of FRM faults (also bmw specific faults). All control modules communicate without issues

You should think about a renting program. I don't mean to offend you but, I find it kinda of crazy to spend $200 ($150 for the scanner and $50 for input) for a diagnosis. Dealers usually don't even charge that much. Normally it's 1 hour of labor for a diagnosis.

You can charge charge something like $160. $100 will act as a deposit, $10 for shipping, and $50 for your service. Then return the deposit once you have the scanner back in your hands. Keep 2-3 on hand can allow you to rotate them around.

Thanks for your feedback! This is something I have thought of, and it may be possible in the future. The $150 is a one time fee, I'm sure the tool will be used more than once by the owner. I think the price of the tool is pretty cheap for its capabilities, it worth having for as long as you own your BMW

Does the tool work with BMW diesel codes? Other diagnostic tools (BT comes to mind) don't claim to support the diesel side of the house. Also, is there support for the MY2012 gassers?

I haven't verified an E90 diesel yet, but it worked on an E70 diesel. I can post as soon I get a diesel to test it on. It's worked on 2013 models, 2012 shouldn't be a problem... I've noticed some of the new F model cars have some fault descriptions in German, but they can easily be translated

Checking the Play and iTunes store descriptions, it seems the tool is just a reader and can't be used to reset/clear codes. I was thinking it would be useful in doing battery swaps and brake pad replacements, but if the tool can't reset codes, then it is less useful. Have I missed something?

It can definitely clear fault codes without any problems... You may have misread something. I've read/cleared faults on over 30 BMW's of all years/models without issues
